FALKEN is Main Sponsor of the 24-hour Race on the Nürburgring Once More

Tyre manufacturer FALKEN is sticking to its tradition and will also appear this year as one of the main sponsors of the ADAC 24-hour Race in Zurich, which will take place on the Nürburgring from 12th to 13th May 2018. FALKEN has been a partner of the legendary event since 1999 and, since then, has constantly continued to build upon its dedication both on and off the track.

As was the case last year, the FALKEN Motorsports team will start the race with two iconic racing vehicles: the FALKEN 911 GT3R, and the FALKEN BMW M6 GT3, which celebrated its début last year and finished with a proud eighth-place position as the third-best BMW. The two sports cars will be racing on almost identical tyres: While the front axle of the Porsche is fitted with FALKEN tyres with dimensions 300/660-18, and the rear axle with dimensions 310/710-18; both the front and rear axles of the BMW are equipped with FALKEN tyres with dimensions 310/710-18.

At the wheel of the Porsche, FALKEN drivers Klaus Bachler (A) and Martin Ragginger (A) will be taking turns with Porsche factory drivers Sven Müller (D) and Dirk Werner (D). As in the previous year, the BMW will be driven by FALKEN drivers Peter Dumbreck (GB) and Alexandre Imperatori (CH), who will be supported by Stef Dusseldorp (NL) and Jens Klingmann (D).

This year too, FALKEN has invited more than 400 tyre retailers and more than 30 journalists from all European markets, and will present them with an exciting racing weekend from across various fields of the hospitality sector. At the trade fair stand in the ring°boulevard, the FALKEN tyre models AZENIS FK510, ZIEX ZE310 ECORUN, and the EUROWINTER HS01 will be presented, and fan merchandise distributed. The tyre-change challenge is aimed at fans and

families, which will be based on a “BMW prototype”, specially developed for the race. Using professional equipment, the tyres on the model can be changed against the clock. Additionally, an autograph-signing session will take place with the drivers in the ring°boulevard, in which motorsports fans will be able to experience their idols up close. There is a FALKEN stand in the paddock, where merchandise articles such as FALKEN Bobby Cars, models of the racing cars and bath towels will be sold to the fans. What’s more, the FALKEN drift team’s spectacular shows, which have already become legendary, are also included in the programme, both on the racing track and in the historic paddock.

An extensive accompaniment of the events on FALKEN’s Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels, as well as the FALKEN website falkentyre.com, is also a component of the event’s vitalisation. Film teams will be producing comprehensive moving image content before, during and after the race, and will be streaming live from the cockpits through a microsite (specify URL), as well as via the FALKEN Facebook site.

“The 24-hour race offers a phenomenal framework in which to present the performance of our tyres,” says Markus Bögner, Managing Director and COO at Falken Tyre Europe. “We are optimistic that we will also achieve good race results here, and that our guests will experience some exciting hours at the hardest race in the world. They are enthused again and again by our extensive programme with its various hospitality areas, evening events, and taxi and drift rides.”
