This will give players extra training and opportunity to earn a place in a team and play regular league football.

Player Success Our players take different routes on graduation from IHM. Some have signed pro-club youth academy contracts in the UK and abroad. Others have gone onto to study at a UK university whilst playing semi-pro football. Others have signed pro club contracts with non UK clubs, whilst some have already won soccer scholarships with prestigious US universities.

US Soccer Scholarships With our partnership with Soccer Assist we can give every player the chance to win a scholarship to study at a US university or college whilst playing league soccer throughout. IHM Football Academy now provides football coaching, workshops and match play for the IH Ellesmere Active Programme (an IH London Young Learner Centre). This offers junior students the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be a professional footballer, take their game to the next level and show case their talent in front of professional football scouts. This course is ideal for anyone wishing to improve their English language skills who also aspires to be a future football star. The course is run and managed by IH London with the football services be- ing delivered by the experienced and qualified coaches from IH Manchester Football Academy.

Mick Brennan Director of Football

Michael Brennan (Mick) is one of the four directors. Mick is a UEFA “B’ licensed qualified football coach and has a degree in Sports Science & Management from the University of Central Lancashire, as well as many years experience managing youth sports coaching programs. Mick began his career in the sports industry in 1996 as apprentice coach with the Premiership football team, Blackburn Rovers FC. Mick then went on to become the Senior Community Development Officer at the club, managing an indoor football facility and a team of sports coaches. This makes him well placed to work with our football students and to pass on his experience. Matt Lowe Head Coach – Manchester

Matt is an experienced and dynamic UEFA ‘B’ licensed football coach who also works with young aspiring players at Premier League club, Everton FC’s Youth Academy. Matt also scouts for the club and comes from a football family, his father is currently First Team Coach at Blackburn Rovers FC. In line with IHM Football Academy’s ethos, Matt graduated in Sport Science (BSc Hons – Liverpool Hope University) in May 2014 and with a double Distinction BTEC award, as well as a PTTLS teaching qualification, he is also perfectly placed to tutor and lecture on the academic side of the programme.

David Raven Head Coach – Ellesmere College

David Raven has enjoyed a 14-year career as a professional footballer playing in the English Premiership, the , League 1 and League 2. David has also competed in Europe and in cup finals, winning the Scottish Cup final in 2015 with Inverness Caledonian Thistle. He started out playing youth football for Tranmere Rovers, before moving to Liverpool in 2004. David was signed by Terry Butcher at Inverness. At “Caley” David finished runner up in the Scottish League Cup in 2014 before winning silverware 2015, a year in which they also came 3rd in the Scottish Premiership. In his time with the club he also started his coaching journey, gaining his UEFA B in 2015 and his A licence in 2017 and training the clubs underage teams. As a coach, David works to ensure players have the belief, desire to win and self-discipline needed to represent themselves and their team with distinction on the pitch. 28 ihmanchesterfootballacademy.com Frank Sinclair

Frank Sinclair is a retired professional footballer who was born in England with parents of Jamaican heritage. He represented Chelsea from the age of 11, signing professional forms at 18 and making his professional debut while on loan at West Bromwich Albion. During his time with Chelsea, Frank won the FA Cup in 1996-97, the League Cup in 1997-98 and the UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup in 1997-98, playing alongside some of the greats of the modern game like and . Frank also collected silverware with City, winning the League Cup in 1999-2000 under Martin O’Neill, before representing clubs like Burnley and Huddersfield Town with distinction. He also represented Jamaica at the 1998 World Cup. Since getting his coaching badges (he has a UEFA A coaching licence), Frank has held coaching or managerial posts with Colwyn Bay, Hednesford Town and Oldham Athletic under 16s and is currently assistant manager with non-league Radcliffe Borough. The Chelsea legend also appears regularly on the Chelsea T.V., offering insightful analysis on Blues’ fixtures.

Jon Macken

Jonathan Paul “Jon” Macken is an English-born Irish footballer, who retired having represented some of England’s biggest clubs. Beginning his career with Premier League side Manchester in 1995, he then joined Preston North End and managed to notch up 63 goals in 189 league matches until his departure to Manchester City in 2002. Macken eventually made his first Premier League appearance for City and made 51 appearances during his three years there, notably scoring against United in the Manchester derby in 2004. He signed for Crystal Palace in 2005 and whilst there moved to Ipswich Town on loan. In 2007 he moved again to Derby County. Jon then went on to play for various other UK pro clubs; Barnsley, Walsall, Northwich Victoria, before joining Stockport County briefly in 2013. He has one international cap for the Republic of Ireland, which he earned in 2004 whilst a City player. Having got his “UEFA A” coaching license, Jon now manages Radcliffe Borough as well as coaching with us. Accommodation Homestay Half board from Monday to Friday, full board at the weekend.
