Cycle of Intercessions Pentecost - Christ the King 2016 DIOCESE OF SWANSEA AND BRECON ESGOBAETH ABERTAWE AC ABERHONDDU Cycle of Intercessions Pentecost - Christ the King 2016 RCL Year C Weekday Lectionary Year 2 EDITOR’S NOTES This booklet has been compiled in conjunction with THE ANGLICAN CYCLE OF PRAYER 2015/6 This lists all Dioceses in every part of the world. It is only available on ‘The Anglican Communion Official Website’ at: www.anglicancommunion.org/acp/ The Anglican Cycle of Prayer is published by the Anglican Communion Office and is © 2004 Anglican Consultative Council. Liturgical Each weekday is presented with the date, day and the Saints/Feast Day taken from The Church in Wales Lectionary produced by The Church in Wales/Yr Eglwys yng Nghymru. The colour of a Sunday is stipulated in the title. All other days (unless feasts of the Lord) are divided between Red and Black letter days. Feasts of the Lord and Red Letter days have a Gloria and a proper preface. If a saints day (black/minor) falls on a Sunday that day has been superseded. If it is your feast of title or dedication then it may take precedence over a Sunday. That said, it can be celebrated on the next available feria day. Copies of the Lectionary are available from 39 Cathedral Road, Cardiff, CF11 9XF 02920 348259. Holy Cross Day may be kept on Sunday 11 September as a diocesan celebration – the day on which the Diocese came in being and the Priory Church of St John Evangelist raised to Cathedral status. All Saints Day may be kept on Kingdom 1. 2 Cycle of Prayer Each Sunday has been divided into two sections: 1. The Anglican Cycle 2. The Diocesan Cycle With the implementation of Ministry Areas, these (as Ministry Areas currently exist) have been allocated to a particular week. The Ministry Area Leader, clergy, lay ministers and any schools within a Ministry Area are prayed for. Where there is space, Provincial or Diocesan intentions are mentioned. When it is the turn of your Ministry Area to be prayed for, please pray, that day, for the work of the Cathedral as your mother church. This Cycle of Prayer is intended to be used together with the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle “With All God’s People”, published by the World Council of Churches and also with the Porvoo Communion Invitation to Prayer which can be found on the Church in Wales website. However, they are not meant to be followed rigidly - in times of need appropriate prayers should be substituted.     Calendar of Intercessions Michaelmas – Advent 2017 to this edition of the prayer diary, following the Feast St Michael and All Angels until the first Sunday of Advent. There are now two Rochester cycles of prayer – ‘parishes’ and ‘extra- Welcome parochial’. This is an attempt to be a little more even handed with the additional groups who are prayed for as the year turns, and to include our church schools in our prayers. As usual, it’s a sizable document but designed to be quick and clear to read, and also to leave space for your own notes. Of course, you do not have to print it all out at once, and you’re welcome to reformat it, if you wish (a Word version is available from my blog, see website below). Sunday entries are designed to look at some of the bigger pictures in our Diocese – sometimes geographical (deaneries, archdeaconries, link dioceses) sometimes issues or activities (Vocations Sunday). The Rt Revd Stephen Conway is the Area, or Suffragan, Bishop of Ramsbury, in the Diocese of Salisbury, which he is currently ‘minding’ as there is also an ‘episcopal interregnum’ in that diocese. Bishop Stephen was trained at Westcott House here in Cambridge, and until he became Bishop of Ramsbury in 2006 served all his ministry in the Diocese of Durham, in two curacies, then as a Parish Priest, as Director of Ordinands and Bishop’s Chaplain, and finally as an Archdeacon.

    PORVOO PRAYER DIARY 2021 The Porvoo Declaration commits the churches which have signed it ‘to share a common life’ and ‘to pray for and with one another’. An important way of doing this is to pray through the year for the Porvoo churches and their Dioceses. The Prayer Diary is a list of Porvoo Communion Dioceses or churches covering each Sunday of the year, mindful of the many calls upon compilers of intercessions, and the environmental and production costs of printing a more elaborate list. Those using the calendar are invited to choose one day each week on which they will pray for the Porvoo churches. It is hoped that individuals and parishes, cathedrals and religious orders will make use of the Calendar in their own cycle of prayer week by week. In addition to the churches which have approved the Porvoo Declaration, we continue to pray for churches with observer status. Observers attend all the meetings held under the Agreement. The Calendar may be freely copied or emailed for wider circulation. The Prayer Diary is updated once a year.
