Bobbytalkscinema.Com Responses/ Comments on “100 Best Performances of Hindi Cinema” in the year 2009-10-11. submitted on 13 October 2009 bollywooddeewana bollywooddeewana.blogspot.com/ I can't help but feel you left out some important people, how about Manoj Kumar in Upkar or Shaheed (i haven't seen that) but he always made strong nationalistic movies rather than Sunny in Deol in Damini Meenakshi Sheshadri's performance in that film was great too, such a pity she didn't even earn a filmfare nomination for her performance, its said to be the reason on why she quit acting Also you left out Shammi Kappor (Junglee, Teesri MANZIL ETC), shammi oozed total energy and is one of my favourite actors from 60's bollywood Rati Agnihotri in Ek duuje ke Liye Mala Sinha in Aankhen Suchitra Sen in Aandhi Sanjeev Kumar in Aandhi Ashok Kumar in Mahal Mumtaz in Khilona Reena Roy in Nagin/aasha Sharmila in Aradhana Rajendra Kuamr in Kanoon Time wouldn't permit me to list all the other memorable ones, which is why i can never make a list like this bobbysing submitted on 13 October 2009 Hi, As I mentioned in my post, you are right that I may have missed out many important acts. And yes, I admit that out of the many names mentioned, some of them surely deserve a place among the best. So I have made some changes in the list as per your valuable suggestion. Manoj Kumar in Shaheed (Now Inlcuded in the Main 100) Meenakshi Sheshadri in Damini (Now Included in the Main 100) Shammi Kapoor in Teesri Manzil (Now Included in the Main 100) Sanjeev Kumar in Aandhi (Now Included in Worth Mentioning Performances) Sharmila Togore in Aradhana (Now Included in Worth Mentioning Performances) Sunny Deol in Damini (Shifted to More Worth Mentioning Performances) Mehmood in Pyar Kiye Ja (Shifted to More Worth Mentioning Performances) Nagarjun in Shiva (Shifted to More Worth Mentioning Performances) I hope you will approve the changes made as per your suggestions.

  • Social Patterns Revealed Through Random Matrix Theory
Social patterns revealed through random matrix theory Camellia Sarkar1 & Sarika Jalan1,2,∗ 1 Centre for Biosciences and Biomedical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Indore, Simrol, Indore 452020, India 2 Complex Systems Lab, Discipline of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Indore, Simrol, Indore 452020, India ∗ Corresponding author e-mail: [email protected] Abstract Despite the tremendous advancements in the field of network theory, very few studies have taken weights in the interactions into consideration that emerge naturally in all real world systems. Using random matrix analysis of a weighted social network, we demonstrate the profound impact of weights in interactions on emerging structural properties. The analysis reveals that randomness existing in particular time frame affects the decisions of individuals rendering them more freedom of choice in situations of financial security. While the structural organization of networks remain same throughout all datasets, random matrix theory provides insight into interaction pattern of individual of the society in situations of crisis. It has also been contemplated that individual accountability in terms of weighted interactions remains as a key to success unless segregation of tasks comes into play. Apprehending various physical systems under the framework of networks has been in practice since a couple of decades [1,2]. Recent years have realized the need of this framework in understand- ing a myriad of social phenomena in various disciplines ranging from psychology to economics [3] for instance, in understanding spread of behaviour across a population [4], assessing organizational performance [5], outbreak detection of disease propagation [6]. In this Letter, we delve in to the intricacies of society using Bollywood, the largest film industry of the world [7] as a model.

In his cinematic career Shah Rukh Khan has become an icon of a rampant middle class, transforming himself from an antihero into a model story of Indian success. Focusing on identity politics, in this article his persona is utilized as a prism through which some representations of fears connected to 20th century India can be observed. Bollywood Badshah At the beginning of the 21st century India constructs itself as a neoliberal and consumerist superpower. Working with the assumption that visual culture, specifically film, draws on wider hegemonic discourses circulating within the public space to construct its own narrative, and that hegemonic definitions emerge and take shape within ‘public culture,’ of which film is a part; this article utilizes Shah Rukh Khan [hereafter SRK]’s persona as a prism through which some representations of fears connected to contemporary India can be Governare la paura - 2014, luglio - ISSN 1974-4935 Alessandra Consolaro observed. In his cinematic career SRK has become an icon of a rampant middle class, transforming himself from antihero into a model story of Indian success. I will use some of SRK’s films, from Darr to My Name Is Khan, in order to uncover a trajectory of some of India’s fears over a decade and a half.
