MISSION STATEMENT Watchman Fellowship, Inc., founded in 1979, is a non-profit, independent Christian research and apologetics ministry focusing on new religious movements, cults, the occult, counterfeit Christianity, and New Age spirituality. We maintain files and information on hundreds of religious movements, spiritual leaders, and controversial doctrines. Our team has developed an extensive research library containing over 50,000 cataloged items (books, periodicals, files, and media) pertaining to this field. The purpose of Watchman Fellowship is threefold: evangelize, equip and educate. Evangelize: The staff of Watchman Fellowship has participated in mission trips throughout the US and internationally. We have shared the gospel at psychic fairs, New Age events, Jehovah’s Witnesses Conventions, and many Mormon Temple openings. Our team has conducted evangelistic outreaches to Mormons for over 20 consecutive years in Utah. Internationally, we have organized and participated in mission trips to over a dozen countries including Canada, Mexico, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Russia, Kiev, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Kenya, South Africa, and several Caribbean countries. Equip: Jesus warned “beware of false prophets.” How can one beware unless one is first aware? By equipping the body of Christ through local churches, we help Christians evangelize those of other faiths and to educate their neighbors against false teachings. Each year our staff teaches hundreds of times in churches throughout America as well as at numerous Bible colleges and seminaries equipping tens of thousands of Christians to correctly distinguish biblical Christianity from alternative faiths and religions. We provide solid training to help believers effectively share the Gospel with those who do not share our Christian worldview. Educate: Watchman Fellowship impacts local communities and the general public by clearly contrasting the difference between the traditional Christianity and the other gospels. We do this through educational conferences, our website (www.watchman.org) and the news media. We are recognized by the media as trusted experts having been interviewed on Nightline, ABC World News Tonight, The News Hour (PBS), and USA Today. DOCTRINAL STATEMENT Watchman Fellowship holds to these foundational truths of God’s Word: Scripture: The Bible, inerrant as originally given, is God’s verbally inspired, complete revelation to mankind. God: There is one God, who is infinitely holy and perfect, existing eternally in the Persons of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ: We accept the Virgin birth, earthly miracles, sinless life, substitutionary death on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension, and literal second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is the Divine Person sent to indwell, guide, empower and sanctify the believer, and thus to bear witness of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Church: The Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through his blood and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Resurrection: There will be a resurrection of the saved and the lost, the first to everlasting life and the second to everlasting punishment. .

  • Armstrongism and the Worldwide Church Of
Armstrongism and the Worldwide Church of God I. WHERE THIS CULT ORIGINATED A. This cult can be traced back to a man by the name of Herbert W. Armstrong and his supposed divine appointments. 1. Herbert Armstrong started out his career asa promotional and advertising man in Des Moines, Iowa in 1912. But in 1920 his advertising business failed in what he described as a flash depression 2. In 1924 Armstrong moved to Oregon and on two more separate occasions his business enterprises `failed because of what he described as "forces beyond his control". 3. Sometime between 1924 and 1931 Armstrong was supposedly converted and began to write and do evangelistic work. 4. It is interesting to note that Armstrong's conversion came about through his wife's discovery and it was a conversion to what she had found. She believed that obedience to God's spiritual laws which were summed upin the ten commandments was necessary for salvation. 5. Armstrong at first set out to prove that his wife was wrong but later he concluded that she had indeed found the truth which meant to him that most of Christendom was not proclaiming the truth. 6. Armstrong was ordained in Eugene, Oregon in 1931 and began to conductevangelistic campaigns there. 7. In January 1934 Armstrong began a radio program in Eugene~ Oregon entitled "The World Tomorrow" and with his incredible speaking and promotional abilities he launched his cultist career filled with all kinds of false and heretical teachings. 8. At exactly 10A.M. on January 1934 Armstrong declared this to be the starting point of the fulfillment of 90% of all Bible prophecies.

Every book in the Bible, either directly or indirectly, tells you _________ it was written. Today’s text in Galatians does just that as we will see the very reason for the letter. It is important to note that within the ranks of Christianity these four verses are softened up in ______________ Bibles by mistranslations and rewording, or by simply avoiding these scriptures completely. It seems better in this lukewarm age to side- step this hard issue and let it go unchecked rather than hitting it head on and allowing its truth to convict hearts and transform lives. This morning as we are working through the passage remember your ____________ friends and family who may have been given a false hope in religion, and as a result, will face the consequences in the future. • House of Yahweh Profile
House of Yahweh By Philip Arnn Founder: Buffalo Bill Hawkins. Founding Date: December 2, 1980. Official Publications: The Prophetic Word magazine, plus numerous books and booklets. HISTORY 1950s: Buffalo Bill Hawkins was named by his older brother after a famous cowboy star. He was one of nine children born to an Oklahoma family. Hawkins and his brother J.G., later to be called Jacob, entered the religious arena with a radio broadcast in the early 1950’s out of Eastland, Texas. The broadcast was called The Question and Answer Program. The subject matter was Bible Prophecy and Mosaic Law of the Old Testament. Hawkins purports to have had a recurring dream which has directed the course of his life: From memory, I think it was about 1951 that I had my FIRST DREAM that my brother Yaaqob and I were the Two Witnesses spoken of in Revelation Chapter 11. My dream went something like this: I knocked on the door of a WHITE HOUSE next to a sanctuary. My brother answered the door, and I asked him, ‘Are you ready to go to Israyl and do what we have been called to do?1 1969 J.G. Hawkins accepted the dream as divine direction. He actually did immigrate to Israel with his family and two other couples. It was at this time that he began calling himself Jacob or Yaaqob. While in Israel Yaaqob heard of an archaeological discovery of a door mantel with the Hebrew title, “BAYIT YHWH” (House of Yahweh). Both brothers believed this to be the true name of God’s true work.

  • New Religious Movements
New Religious Movements New Religious Movements: Challenge and response is a searching and wide-ranging collection of essays on the contemporary phenomenon of new religions. The contributors to this volume are all established specialists in the sociology, theology, law, or the history of new minority movements. The primary focus is the response of the basic institutions of society to the challenge which new religious movements represent. The orientation of this volume is to examine the way in which new movements in general have affected modern society in areas such as economic organisation; the operation of the law; the role of the media; the relationship of so-called ‘cult’ membership to mental health; and the part which women have played in leading or supporting new movements. Specific instances of these relationships are illustrated by reference to many of the most prominent new religions – Hare Krishna, The Brahma Kumaris, The Unification Church, The Jesus Army, The Family’, The Church of Scientology, and Wicca. For students of religion or sociology, New Religious Movements is an invaluable source of information, an example of penetrating analysis, and a series of thought-provoking contributions to a debate which affects many areas of contemporary life in many parts of the world. • A Brief Summary of the Way International and Its Primary Teachings
A brief summary of The Way International and its primary teachings The "Way" movement is causing considerable confusion in some communities. This article shows that it is a different way of salvation than the Biblical way taught by traditional Christianity. 1. The founder The founder of The Way International is Victor Paul Wierwille, who was born in 1917 and raised in the Evangelical and Reformed Church. He claims that God spoke to him audibly in 1942 telling him that He would teach Wierwille "the Word as it had not been known since the first century" if he would teach it to others. In 1953, he learned to "receive the holy spirit into manifestation," that is, he learned to speak in tongues. 2. The foundation The Word of God "rightly divided" is the foundation on which The Way movement rests. Wierwille, as a modern apostle who believes he was chosen by God to bring new light to the present generation, is held by his followers to be the present day spiritual leader who can "rightly divide" the Word. Present day versions and translations of the Bible are considered inaccurate and believed to contain errors. When interpreted and "corrected" by the spiritual leader, Wierwille, the Bible then becomes the "accurate" Word of God which followers can also "rightly divide." 3. The structure The way is structured like a tree. The Board of Directors is the root . The Headquarters in New Knoxville, Ohio, is the trunk . State organizations constitute the limbs , while city groups are the branches . Bible study groups in homes and on campuses are the twigs , and individual members of such groups are the leaves .

With the first major media appearances of Maitreya, the World Teacher and head of this group, these ancient guardians of the human race have begun their public approach. Soon they will be working openly at our side, showing us how to live together in peace – with sharing, justice, and broth- erhood as the keynotes of a new civilization. The most dramatic changes the world has ever known will be brought about when we resolve to end the scourges of hunger, poverty, disease, and restore ecological balance to the earth itself. These changes, many now under way, will be implemented by humanity itself with the wise guidance and inspiration of the Masters. Benjamin Creme In 15 remarkable books, British author and futurist Benjamin Creme describes how the emergence of Maitreya and the Masters will affect our global society, as well as each of us as individuals. Share International By Jason Barker Founder: Benjamin Creme Date: 1975 Other Names: Maitreya is also called Teacher or World Teacher. Share International is also known as Tara Center. Publications: The Emergence Quarterly. Books include The Reappearance of the Christ and the Masters of Wisdom, Maitreya’s Mission, Messages from Maitreya, the Christ and Transmission: A Meditation for a New Age. HISTORY Benjamin Creme was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1922. During his early years Creme studied art and esoteric philosophy, and eventually became known both as a modernist painter and an expert in the teachings of Helena Blavatsky and Alice A. Bailey.1 While he came to believe in the existence of the “Masters of Wisdom” (i.e., great teachers who have evolved to a higher level of existence) through the writings of the Theosophists, he was nonetheless surprised when he was contacted by one of the Masters in 1959. The Master prophesied that the Christ would return in twenty years, and that Creme would play a role in the Christ’s activities.2 In 1972, the Master began training Creme for his role as forerunner to the Christ.3 From 1975–1979, Creme spoke throughout Europe about the coming Christ who would fulfill all religions’ prophecies concerning a coming savior. This activity became increasingly important when the Christ, known as Maitreya, left his refuge in the Himalayas in July of 1977, and particularly when he began appearing to London’s Indian-Pakistani community in March of 1978.4 Maitreya’s most significant appearance allegedly occurred in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1988.
