Microsoft Windows has quickly come onto the tablet scene recently with their new Microsoft Surface. They boast that it is “the tablet that can replace your laptop.” Currently, Microsoft is offering the following four models: - Surface 2 - Surface Pro 2 - Surface 3 - Surface Pro 3 To help compare the models side by side, there is a comparison chart, but it only compares the Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3 models. In general, the Surface 2 and Surface 3 are more similar to the typical tablet, in regard to their ability. The Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3 were made to completely replace the need for a laptop. Being just as small as other tablets, the Surface Pro models have the power and ability to fulfill every need. The biggest difference between the regular and Pro models is the computing power and ability. The Pro models are more powerful and allow users to download any program, whereas the regular models can only download programs from the Windows Store. The Windows Store is Microsoft’s app store. Currently, it is lacking compared to industry giants App Store (Apple) and Google Play (Android), but it is constantly growing. For users accustomed to a Windows environment, the Microsoft Surface may be a good fit due to it running a version of Windows 8 (and Windows 10 once it is released) designed specifically for the Surface. Users will also be happy to know the Surface tablets run Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). .
