I arbitrarily classify a ‘Collection’ as a library of different games and a ‘Trove’ as a library of a single game. It has been cleaned up some, labeled poorly, and shuffled about a little to perhaps be more useful. There are links to ~15,000 pdfs. Don't be intimidated, some are duplicates. As Anon says; “Surely in Da Archive™ somewhere.” Part I is the Personal Collections. They are Huge. You need to go to each one and look at them. They often have over 1000 links each. Part II is the Alphabetical Section. Well........ when I say “alphabetical”, I really mean artistically arranged according to my whim and level of sobriety. New Section!! Part III SNAPSHOTS OF DA GENERALS will be stored at the bottom of Da Archive Check them out.

  • Welcome to the Origins Pre-Registration Program Book Origins 2008 Looks to Be Another Great Year for Ori- Gins--With a Few Big Changes!
Welcome To the Origins Pre-Registration Program Book Origins 2008 looks to be another great year for Ori- gins--with a few big changes! We’ve introduced a new concept to Origins--and changed the name of the show. We at the Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA), the non-profi t trade association that looks after the interests of the game industry, started working in 2001 to really make Origins the gamer’s game convention. With the help of many GMs, clubs, volunteers, and publishers, we have accomplished this goal. No matter your type of social or hobby, non-electronic game, Origins is the place for you. Now we need to work on something else, while main- taining Origins as *the* gamer’s game con. The thing that we need in the game industry is more custom- ers--and therefore more gamers. GAMA has a num- ber of programs to help the industry with this, from our Games in Education and Games to Troops, to our partnerships with the American Library Association and with hobby and toy associations. We’re getting Origins into the act as well by inviting “the public” to enjoy our Exhibit Hall on Saturday and Sunday for only $3 a person or $10 a family. These folks will be attending Origins like it’s another of the summer fairs here in Columbus. They’ll come to learn and buy new games. Some of these folks will discover our hobby and become gamers. most of them will just discover a new world of games to enjoy and will become casual costomers of our publishers.

  • American Hollow Earth Narratives from the 1820S to 1920
American Hollow Earth Narratives From the 1820s to 1920 Thesis submitted in accordance with the requirements of the University of Liverpool for the degree of Doctor in Philosophy by Michelle Kathryn Yost August 2014 Abstract With the disappearance of terra incognita from nineteenth century maps, new lands of imagination emerged in literature, supplanting the blank spaces on the globe with blank spaces inside the globe, the terra cava. Beginning with Symmes’s Theory of Concentric Spheres from 1818, dozens of American authors wrote fictions set in a hollow or semi- hollow earth. This setting provided a space for authors to experiment with contemporary issues of imperialism, science, faith, and socio-political reforms. The purpose of this thesis is one of literary archaeology, examining the American hollow earth narrative, which peaked in publication numbers between 1880 and 1920, most of which was forgotten as exploration of the Poles disproved Symmes’s theory of Polar openings into a hollow, habitable world. Though there have been some general studies of hollow earth and subterranean literature, there has never been a focused study of nineteenth century American hollow earth literature and its relationship to contemporary culture. The first chapter explores the history of John Cleves Symmes, Jr and his theory in the early nineteenth century, and the influence is had on American politics, literature, and scientific thought. In the subsequent three chapters, the terra cava narratives published between 1880 and 1920 are explored in three categories: the imperial, the spiritual, and the utopian. All of these elements reflect distinct American concerns during the fin de siècle about the country’s expansion, the closing of the frontier, variations in Christian theology, the development of Spiritualism, the women’s rights movement, and socio-economic reforms meant to improve American life.
