Wearing slippers to church Not Pentecost fire Andrea Potgieter Everyone arriving at church in slippers is not what one expects to see in an Anglican church but on Sunday 12 May this is what happened at St Luke’s in Palmridge. The rector, Andrea Potgieter, had challenged the congregation to participate in a delayed ‘Slipper Friday’ in aid of Reach for a Dream. She had bought 100 tickets to demonstrate their support of this wonderful initiative and the congregation responded positively by arriving at church in a variety of slippers which reflected their personalities. Andrea’s slippers read “Queen of everything” (LOL)! Members of the congregation had paid their R10 ticket fee and put their best foot, or rather slipper, forward and enjoyed the fun experience.
