Arizona Sports LOADED: 07.26.2021 1218532 Arizona Coyotes Arizona Coyotes select 5 players during rounds 4-7 of 2021 NHL Draft BY SAM GRAVELINE JULY 24, 2021 AT 8:15 PM The 2021 NHL Draft has officially wrapped up and the Arizona Coyotes welcomed eight new players into its system. The Coyotes made a splash trading into the first round Friday to select Dylan Guenther with the No. 9 overall pick. Starting day two of the draft Saturday, Arizona had three second-round selections. The team selected forward Josh Doan — son of former Coyotes captain Shane Doan — with the No. 37 overall pick, then followed with selecting forward Ilya Fedotov with the No. 43 overall pick and defenseman Janis Jerome-Moser with the No. 60 pick. With no third-round selection, the Coyotes had five picks from rounds four to seven: Round 4, Pick 107: D Emil Martinsen Lilleberg – Norway The 6-foot-2, 207-pound defenseman represented Norway in 2021 IIHF World Championship, where he scored one goal in six games. Lilleberg was also the captain of Team Norway during the 2019-20 World Junior Championships. Round 4, Pick 122: G Rasmus Korhonen – Finland The lone goaltender drafted by the Coyotes posted a 2.18 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. Korhonen was ranked No. 7 amongst European goalies by NHL Central Scouting. Round 5, Pick 139: F Manix Landry – Gatineau Olympiques, QMJHL The Salt Lake City native registered 23 points while serving as captain of Gatineau this season. Over three seasons in the QMJHL, Landry tallied 29 goals and 44 assists. Round 6, Pick 171: D Cal Thomas – Sioux Falls, USHL After scoring 26 points during high school season, Thomas played in nine games for Sioux Falls, registering one goal and an assist. He’s committed to play his college hockey at Vermont. Round 7, Pick 223: F Sam Lipkin – Chicago Steel, USHL The Coyotes traded back into the last round of the draft, sending a 2022 seventh-round pick acquired from the St. Louis Blues to the Montreal Canadiens. The 6-foot-3, 196-pound forward finished 2020-21 with three goals and eight assists in 30 games with the Steel. He also had one goal and one assist in eight postseason contests to help Chicago win the USHL’s Clark Cup. Arizona Sports LOADED: 07.26.2021 1218533 Boston Bruins do that but as we’ve seen so many times, these talks are very fluid and that could change before free agency begins on Wednesday.
