Where Camping Is King The Samoset Voice Advancement News Page 10 The Eagle Scout Highest Achievement in Boy Scouting The fact that a boy is an Eagle Scout has always carried with it a special significance, not only in Scouting but also as he enters higher education, business or industry, and community service. Not every boy who joins a Boy Scout troop earns the Eagle Scout rank; only about 6 percent of all Boy Scouts do so. This represents more than 2 million Boy Scouts who have earned the rank since 1912. Nevertheless, the goals of Scouting—citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness—remain important for all Scouts, whether or not they attain the Eagle Scout rank.

Samoset Council would like to congratulate those individuals who achieved the rank of Eagle in 2015. Below are some statistics about the 2015 class of Eagles.

• 78 Eagle Scouts for 2015, each completing a community service project • 6% of Boy Scouts in Samoset Council (comparable with the national average) • 6,240 hours of community service (80 average hours per project) • $125,000 was raised or donated through these projects • The financial impact on communities in North Central Wisconsin is estimated to be over $500,000
