Also today in 1958, NASA was established by an act of Congress. More? In 1962, the 300-foot radio telescope of the National Ra- dio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) went live at Green Bank, West Virginia. It held place as the world’s second largest radio scope until it collapsed in 1988. Tonight let’s visit with an old lunar favorite. Easily seen in binoculars, the hexagonal walled plain of Albategnius ap- pears near the terminator about one-third the way north of the south limb. Look north of Albategnius for even larger and more ancient Hipparchus giving an almost “figure 8” view in binoculars. Between Hipparchus and Albategnius to the east are mid-sized craters Halley and Hind. Note the curious ALBATEGNIUS AND HIPPARCHUS ON THE relationship between impact crater Klein on Albategnius’ southwestern wall and TERMINATOR CREDIT: ROGER WARNER that of crater Horrocks on the northeastern wall of Hipparchus. Now let’s power up and “crater hop”... Just northwest of Hipparchus’ wall are the beginnings of the Sinus Medii area. Look for the deep imprint of Seeliger - named for a Dutch astronomer. Due north of Hipparchus is Rhaeticus, and here’s where things really get interesting. If the terminator has progressed far enough, you might spot tiny Blagg and Bruce to its west, the rough location of the Surveyor 4 and Surveyor 6 landing area. -

The sectionbreak package∗ Michal Hoftich 2019-03-11 Contents 1 The sectionbreak package 1 1.1 Package options . 1 1.2 Commands . 1 1.3 The tex4ht support . 2 2 Example 2 3 License 2 4 Changelog 3 1 The sectionbreak package This package provides LaTeX support for section breaks, used mainly in fiction books to signal changes in a story, like changes in time, location, etc. (Source: Wikipedia1). 1.1 Package options There are several package options: disable disable section break printing. mark characters printed in the center of the section break. It is space by default, common value might be *** for example. asterism request asterism2 as a section mark. preskip Amount of space printed before the section mark. It should be a dimension unit supported by TeX. postskip Similar to preskip, but it is a space printed after the section mark. skip Set both preskip and postskip to the same value. style LaTeX commands for font style change, like \bfseries, for example. ∗Version v0.1d 1<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_(typography)> 2<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asterism_(typography)> 1 1.2 Commands \sectionbreak[<mark>] print the section break. Space Place Partners’ Article August 2010 The Turbulent Tale of a Tiny Galaxy by Trudy Bell and Dr. Tony Phillips Next time you hike in the woods, pause at a babbling stream. Watch carefully how the water flows around rocks. After piling up in curved waves on the upstream side, like the bow wave in front of a motorboat, the water speeds around the rock, spilling into a riotous, turbulent wake downstream. Lightweight leaves or grass blades can get trapped in the wake, swirling round and round in little eddy currents that collect debris. Astronomers have found something similar happening in the turbulent wake of a tiny galaxy that is plunging into a cluster of 1,500 galaxies in the constellation Virgo. In this case, however, instead of collecting grass and leaves, eddy currents in the little galaxy’s tail seem to be gathering gaseous material to make new stars. “It’s a fascinating case of turbulence [rather than gravity] trapping the gas, allowing it to become dense enough to form stars,” says Janice A. Hester of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. The tell-tale galaxy, designated IC 3418, is only a hundredth the size of the Milky Way and hardly stands out in visible light images of the busy Virgo Cluster. Astronomers realized it was interesting, however, when they looked at it using NASA's Galaxy Evolution Explorer satellite. “Ultraviolet images from the Galaxy Evolution Explorer revealed a long tail filled with clusters of massive, young stars,” explains Hester. Galaxies with spectacular tails have been seen before. -

The virtual keyboard aids re-keying of historical documents containing characters that are mostly unsupported in other text editing tools (see Figure 1). If required for other applications the mapping between a precomposed character and the corresponding decomposed character sequence is given in the table as well. When writing to files Aletheia encodes all characters in UTF-8 (variable-length multi-byte representation). Key: Glyph – the icon displayed in the virtual keyboard. Unicode – the actual Unicode character; can be copied and pasted into other applications. Please note that special characters might not be displayed properly if there is no corresponding font installed for the target application. IC 3418 has a spectacular 17 kpc length UV-bright tail comprised of knots, head–tail, and linear stellar features. The only Hα emission arises from a few H ii regions in the tail, the brightest of which are at the heads of head–tail UV sources whose tails point toward the galaxy (“fireballs”). -
