The Northbrook Winter Welcome will take place on December 11-13, 2020 at the Northbrook Sports Center. Despite the challenges faced by the ongoing pandemic, we are excited to offer a safe, fun competition that will be run in accordance with all current state guidelines. While the competition will look different this year, we hope that many skaters are excited to show off their hard work and new competitive programs in a range of events. Events are offered to all ages- Tots though Adults. Enclosed is an information packet with entry forms and everything you need to know about registration, compulsory skills, event descriptions and judges. Applications and payment are due by November 20, 2020. If you have any questions, call the Sports Center Office at 847-291-2993 and our staff will be happy to help you. The below guidelines are updated as of October 26, 2020; all guidelines are subject to change. All coaches and participants will be notified of any changes. COVID-19 Competition Guidelines 1. Skaters will be allowed into the building 20 minutes prior to their warmup time. Spectators will be allowed into the stands at the start of their skater’s warmup. a. All skaters, coaches, and spectators must check-in with the registration table upon arrival. b. One spectator per registered skater is allowed inside. 2. All skaters, coaches, and spectators entering the building must wear masks. a. Skaters must wear a mask during warmup. b. When entering and exiting the ice to perform, skaters must wear a mask. When performing, skaters may remove their mask. 3. Skaters must arrive in their costume. Skaters will be allowed to change skates in their assigned locker rooms. a. Changing areas will be provided only for those who are changing costumes between events. 4. Spectator seating will be marked with 6’ indicators. Spectators may only sit in these designated seats. 5. Additional spectators will be able to watch via livestream. 6. Skaters will enter the ice for warmup through designated doors. Once their warmup is over, skaters must exit and wait in the designated waiting area before performing. There will be an ice monitor at the rink entrance door checking skaters in before they take the ice. 7. All music must be submitted electronically by the registration deadline. Skaters must have a CD on-hand as a backup. 8. Competition results will not be printed. Competition results will be uploaded electronically to https://www.nbparks.org/programs/ice-skating/northbrook-winter-welcome/ with instructions for podium arrival time for awards. 9. Only individual and partner events will be offered. No team events will be allowed. 10. Signage and floor markings will guide skaters, coaches, and spectators throughout the facility. 11. Be vigilant in preventing the spread of the virus by practicing good hygiene, as recommended by CDC guidelines. 12. Participants should conduct a self-assessment and not attend a program, event or visit a facility if: a. The individual is ill or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. b. The individual or household member has been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19. c. The individual has tested positive for COVID-19 and has not been determined it is safe to return. 13. Report suspected or positive COVID-19 cases or confirmed close contact exposures to the park district immediately.
