AllMusic Review by Greg Prato. Whereas Rush's first two releases, their self-titled debut and Fly by Night, helped create a buzz among hard rock fans worldwide, the more progressive third release, Caress of Steel, confused many of their supporters. Rush knew it was now or never with their fourth release, and they delivered just in time -- 1976's 2112 proved to be their much sought-after commercial breakthrough and remains one of their most popular albums. Instead of choosing between prog rock and heavy rock, both styles are merged together to create an interesting and original approach. The entire first side is comprised of the classic title track, which paints a chilling picture of a future world where technology is in control (Peart's lyrics for the piece being influenced by Ayn Rand). Comprised of seven "sections," the track proved that the trio members were fast becoming rock's most accomplished instrumentalists. The second side contains shorter selections, such as the Middle Eastern-flavored "A Passage to Bangkok" and the album-closing rocker "Something for Nothing." 2112 is widely considered by Rush fans as their first true "classic" album, the first in a string of similarly high-quality albums. discoverfullpac. The best-known torrent site in the world now streams pirated content too. The Pirate Bay has added support for Torrents Time, a plugin that lets users stream torrents directly inside their browser. There's no need to download the torrent itself, or a BitTorrent client, or even the actual content — then lets the whole process run inside Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Chrome, on either Windows or OS X. The system is currently in beta, and has all the usual problems of pirated torrents (namely bad image quality and the need to wait for peers to seed the content), but it's still an extremely simple system. Torrents Time can be added to any site. Download Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2010 edition torrent or any other torrent from Windows category. Torrents Time first launched at the beginning of this month, initially with support from popcorntime-online.io, a new web-based incarnation of Popcorn Time unrelated to prior forks, including the popular .io version. The Torrents Time plugin isn't just built for The Pirate Bay though — any torrenting site can add support. Fire emblem path of the blue flame jpn iso 9000. The option to stream torrents now appears right alongside the download button. A screenshot of a streaming torrent for The Revenant . 'By harnessing the incredible abilities of torrents, you can transform your website, in a matter of seconds to an amazing, simple to use streaming website,' writes the Torrents Time team on their site. 'With Torrents Time you'll be able to [..] generate more revenue than with any other monetization company while putting a stop to annoying ads.' VentureBeat reports that one or two other sites have already added support for Torrents Time, while popular Pirate Bay alternative Kickass Torrents is currently working on integrating the plugin. Torrents Time isn't the first solution for streaming torrents directly inside the browser, but previous iterations of the technology have had their drawbacks. As TorrentFreak notes, some streaming-torrents sites simply grabbed content via HTTP rather than via peer-to-peer connections, meaning they quickly ran out of bandwidth. Another used technology provided by free VPN service Hola, although Hola itself is hardly trusted after it was caught selling users' internet connections to botnets. Is Torrents Time pulling any dirty tricks on its users? It's difficult to say for certain. Right now, it seems the plugin is monetized by pointing people towards a paid VPN service, while its website promises that ad servers will be 'coming soon.' Having a source of income means it's less likely to mess with its users, but as with any sort of activity relating to online piracy, there's no guarantee that everything's above board. For Immediate Release: MASTODON’S NEW ALBUM ONCE MORE ’ROUND THE SUN DEBUTS AT NO. 6 ON BILLBOARD CHART - THEIR HIGHEST U.S. CHART DEBUT EVER! THE NEW ALBUM IS ALSO TOP 20 AROUND THE WORLD ABC’S JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE CONFIRMED FOR SEPTEMBER 15TH July 2, 2014 — (Burbank, CA) — Once More ’Round The Sun, the sixth studio album from Mastodon, has debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. This marks their highest chart debut ever. In addition, this album released by Reprise Records on June 24th, has gone Top 10 in most European markets and top 20 in most remaining territories. Once More ’Round The Sun has also entered the Top 10 Album Charts in the U.K. as well where it is currently the No. 1 Rock/Metal album across the nation; yet another milestone for Mastodon. Fans and critics agree, this is the best Mastodon album yet: “The mercurial metal heads have improved on the lean hard-rock pummel of 2011’s The Hunter with lattices of ornate riffs and primal vocals… the band sounds best when taking risks.” – Rolling Stone “Album after album, Mastodon set the pace for modern heavy metal. Their brand of aggression is brainy, technically dazzling and slightly hallucinogenic – metal for people who don’t usually listen to metal. At the same time, the band is balls-out creative. ‘Elegant’ isn’t a term usually associated with neck-tatted, acid-eating heshers but check out Bill Kelliher’s guitar riff verses Brent Hinds’ guitar solo versus Brann Dailor’s double-time drums.

Barnett Associate Professor of Communication Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania [email protected] Relevant Rhetoric, Vol. 7 (2016): Rush’s Lyrical Rhetoric of Oppression and Liberation 2 On April 18, 2013, members of the Canadian power trio Rush were among the artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a well-deserved honor that was long overdue. Formed in August 1968, Rush would join artists like Pink Floyd and Yes in shaping the music movement that would come to be categorized as “progressive” rock, or “prog rock,” a rock music sub-genre that Rush. After years playing on the Toronto music scene, Rush formed their own label, Moon Records, and shortly thereafter released their first album, Rush, in 1974.2 Rush’s self-titled debut album did not garner much attention until Cleveland’s WMMS (100.7 FM), widely regarded as one of the most influential rock radio stations in North America,

  • How Is Rush Canadian?
Rush and Philosophy 2nd pages 3/11/11 1:56 PM Page 287 21 How Is Rush Canadian? DURRELL BOWMAN Given Canada’s relatively small population (twenty-one million in 1969, thirty-four million in 2009), many—but certainly not all—of the nation’s more ambitious musicians have pursued at least some of their career activities in the US and other foreign parts. Rush mainly demonstrates “Canadianness” by combining such British and American influences as progressive rock, hard rock, and indi- vidualism. However, the band has also included more specifically Canadian references across its long career. CanCon The Canadian government implemented specific content—or “CanCon”—regulations in 1971, and broadcasters were then required to include certain percentages of Canadian material. For music, at least two of a song recording’s four main categories of Music, Artist, Production, and Lyrics (“M-A-P-L”) must be “Canadian” according to citizenship or location. The interpretation of this changed after 1991, due to a “scandal” involving Bryan Adams failing to qualify as Canadian because of co-writing certain songs, such as “(Everything I Do) I Do it For You” ( Waking up the Neighbours and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves , both 1991), with such non-Canadians as Mutt Lange and Michael Kamen. (Spelling the word “neighbours” in the Canadian way apparently didn’t help.) The outcome is that even though Shania Twain similarly co- wrote the songs on Come on Over (1997) with her then-husband Mutt Lange and did not record any of this music in Canada, her album and its songs by that point qualified as Canadian.
