PORTLAND STATE VIKINGS 2020-21 TEAM ROSTER WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT PORTLAND STATE AND VIKING GOLF Portland State University, located in Portland, OR, is the largest school in the state of Oregon with 28,407 stu- dents. It was founded in 1946 as Vanport Extension Center - a two-year institution. Portland State women’s golf began competition as a Division I program in 1997-98. Having just completed its 22nd season, Viking Golf has become one of the top programs in the Big Sky Conference. PSU has won seven Big Sky Championships in the past 16 seasons (2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2014), making seven appearances in the NCAA Regionals. PSU’s best regional finish was 16th in 2003. Felicia Johnston led the Vikings to their first three Big Sky titles, earning conference Coach of the Year honors all three times (2003, 2004, 2005). After taking over the program in 2008, Kathleen Takaishi led the Vikings to three Big Sky Championships (2008, 2010, 2011) and a total of six tournament titles.
