Having been at Knaphill for just over a month I'm starting to form a team that can compete in this league week in and week out, its difficult to come in midway through the season and sign all the players that you wish to have for various reasons however, I am extremely happy with the players that have come in and I am very happy with the players who were already at the club, a couple of players have left the club after feeling they were not in my plans which is a shame but that’s football. They say football is a funny old game and I think I agree, in our last game here at Redding Way we played Bookham off the park and won the game 4-0 with some quality football, we followed that with a solid 2-0 win away to local rivals Sheerwater, Fantastic, two wins in a row and two consecutive clean sheets and we think we've cracked it, however, our next match proved to be a different kettle of fish and the kettle stunk as we were awful, ill disciplined and unprofessional throughout and it cost us the match against a side who had been on a terrible run and we ended up losing the game 2-0, we had two players sent off, missed a pen, hit the post and got everything we deserved, Nothing!! The Feltham defeat may well be a blessing in disguise, we've had a very good training session for tonight’s game and the players are ready and focus for our biggest game of the season and we hope we all do the club proud. Come on the Knappers!! Phil. Kick It Out is football's equality and inclusion campaign. The brand name of the campaign - Let's Kick Racism Out of Football - was established in 1993 and Kick It Out established as a body in 1997. The campaign is supported and funded by the game's governing bodies, including founding body the Professional Footballers Association (PFA), the Premier League, the Football Foundation and The Football Association. 2004 marked ten years of campaigning. Since Knaphill and Guernsey met for the opening game of the season, our visitors have taken vast strides in their first season of league football and proudly sit top of the League with 18 wins from 20 matches and 55 points, their only loss being away to Spelthorne Sports. Plenty of goals have come forth from the team which currently stands at 78 scored with just eleven conceded in those twenty games. Knaphill were the first team to play Guernsey at their Footes Lane Stadium on the 6th August which saw the league newcomers start with a resounding 5-0 win over us, which included a hat-trick from Ross Allen in the space of six minutes with all of Guernsey’s goals coming in the first half. Ross has become a very prolific goalscorer and only last Saturday had another hat-trick in the 6-1 win over Cobham. I can foresee a League record coming up by the end of the season for the number of goals scored from one player, also a goals tally record from the team. Promotion favourites ? Very much so, and now have 14 games remaining including tonight’s match. About the only figure Knaphill are on level par with Guernsey, is we’ve both played 20 matches! Both clubs are well up on their fixtures and ahead of other clubs in Division One. Since our last home game, the 4-0 win over Bookham, with goals from Michael Pym(2), Craig Knowles, and Matt Ward, Knaphill made it back to back wins in the away game at local rivals Sheerwater with a 2-0 success, making it six points in the space of five days, and two clean sheets. Michael Pym was on the scoresheet again with the first goal, with Kemo Maphela scoring a cracking goal at the start of the second half. Then last Saturday away to Feltham and a challenge to make it three wins on the trot. But unfortunately no goals, no points and a 2-0 defeat which left the team 13th in the table. Feltham took the lead after twenty minutes, but the opportunity to equalise came two minutes later when Knaphill were awarded a penalty after Maphela was fouled in the box, but Steve Coultas sent his spot kick wide of the post. Knaphill created a number of chances in the first half, but the hosts led by that single goal at halftime. Two minutes into the second half and Knaphill were trailing 2-0, and didn’t really create enough opportunities to get themselves back in the game, and to add to their woes of the disappointing result, two players, Steve Coultas and Matt Ward were both red carded for two bookable offences. Knaphill Reserves pulled themselves back to winning ways following the defeat by Westfield, when they beat Bedfont Sports Reserves 3-1. Last Saturday’s league game at home to Farnham Town Reserves was postponed due to waterlogged pitch. On Thursday of last week, Knaphill Youth had a 4-1 win over Flackwell Heath Youth in the 2nd round of the Allied Counties League Cup. There’s more news and comment on the Reserves, the Youth team, and Ladies team, elsewhere in the programme. Looking ahead to the remaining fixtures this month, and next Saturday 17th December Knaphill visit Hartley Wintney kick-off 3pm, and on Tuesday 27th December there’s our local derby at home to Westfield kick-off 12.00. With no games on Saturday 31st December, it’s into 2012 and the first game of the New Year will away to Eversley on Monday 2nd January, and Knaphill’s first match at home next month will be against Frimley Green on Saturday 7th January kick-off 3.00pm. ....and finally……Enjoy the game, have a safe journey home, and a Happy Christmas to you all…… Bryan HELP WANTED Do you have time and interest to help out at Knaphill? twitter.com/Knaphill_fc We’re always looking for people who have interest in football to help at the club.
