Once again you find yourself out of things to do, sitting in your room or apartment or house, and sighing "What are we going to do tonight? As has been played over and over again in this Feature section, you live in the most exciting city on I .nth, and to sit home as of an evening and simply vegetate or have a TV party should be a crime. A friend who is living in Paris recently wrote, and she discussed returning to SF. In the letter she said, "Well, Paris is Paris, but San Francisco is...well..."

So here are some suggestions for the night on the town, and if they seem a little opinionated, they are not to be apologized for. If you have better ideas, you should be out living them.

You may want to start out your evening a little early with, say, lunch at Hamburger Mary's. This interesting establishment is located in the Mission District, on the corner of Folsom and 12th Street. You will find excellent food at somewhat reasonable prices, and good stiff drinks to send you on your way. During the day the establishment is filled with regular working people in search of a different lunch, but if you decide to drop in during the night (or maybe you'll stay the whole afternoon) the place really starts to move. Once the sun goes down things begin to get weirder and stranger. There is a DJ in a back booth, spinninga marvelous selection of music to help your evening along. It sounds very loud at first, but it is mixed in such a way as you will be able to talk easily and without shouting, as you may have to do in many bars and restaurants. The music is fun, but the people are even more a source of enjoyment. The crowd is really mixed, with a sort of gay, straight/ S and M sort of clientele. The scene is really exciting, the hamburgers are good, the people are even fun to watch, and there is also, to top it all off, a Tempest video game in the back near the DJ.

Now remember, you want to view But let us say that you have left the sunset while you indulge in your Hamburger Mary's at a somewhat meal. Ask for your order to go, and respectable hour, and that it is now get a can of Olympia with it.
