And there, as one ex pupil remarked, we engaged in a bit of ‘Christmas Magic.’ Here we assembled and held a short service, with makeshift seats, lectern and choir stalls (for the by then a fairly ‘well- oiled choir!) made out of hay bales. And there, amidst the straw filled pens and with the cattle looking at us, we reminded ourselves in some small way of that first Christmas in a similar barn in Bethlehem two thousand years ago. -
