The Camp DIRECTORS Brooklyn Fund was created to give these children an opportunity to attend accredited Debra Garcia sleep-away camp and have the experience Executive Director of a lifetime! Just $750 will send a child to camp for two weeks. Allan Kramer II Starting in the 2013 season, through the Camille Socci agency that administers our funds, a camper database will be implemented enabling us to track the academic progress as well as social and emotional growth of our funded camp- ers. The data collected will provide a clear picture of the progress of our campers year to year. For more information visit us at www.campbrooklyn.org 2 March 13, 2013 Dear Friends, Welcome to the Barclays Center for a very special evening – the Camp Brooklyn Fund Community Service Award. As many of you know, Camp Brooklyn is an initiative that is near and dear to my wife, Jamie and I, and your support means all the world to us. This year we are delighted to honor outstanding banking executive Peter Meyer, New York Market President for TD Bank, and the visionary Bruce Ratner, Chairman of Forest City Ratner Companies. Jamie and I believe that nature and children belong together, but for many urban kids, especially those from low-income Brooklyn families, enjoying the great out- doors is a dream deferred. Giving these children a sleep-away camp experience in a beautiful, country setting not only makes their summer healthy and fun, it can truly change lives. Yet for so many, it is simply unaffordable. Our goal in founding Camp Brooklyn was to help as many Brooklyn kids as possible attend an accredited summer sleep-away camp and for each of them to have the experience of a lifetime! And while our Camp Brooklyn campers may come from economically disadvantaged families, we make sure that their camp experience is first class! And don’t forget, sending youngsters to camp also means a much-needed break for working parents. Camp time for kids mean a little R&R for their caregivers! Profound thanks to the hardworking Camp Brooklyn Fund Board led by its Executive Director Debra Garcia. Bravo to event planner, Karen Rosenberg, President of Empire Events Group. Enjoy the evening and good luck with your auction and raffle bids! Let’s send a lot of Brooklyn kids to sleep away camp! Their commitment to making Brooklyn a better place to live, work and play is an inspiration to us all. With the generosity of our corporate partners and caring individuals, we have been able to send thousands of deserving kids to sleep-away camp for an experience they will never forget. There is a saying ‘Noblesse Oblige’… with wealth, power, and prestige come social responsibility. Meaning, those who are capable to help someone who is less fortunate, should do so. By being here this evening, placing an ad in the journal, or making a donation, you are doing just that...and we thank you. We are excited to announce that starting this year, through the agency that administers our funds, a camper database will be implemented enabling us to track the academic progress as well as social and emotional growth of our funded campers. The data collected will provide a clear picture of the progress of our campers year to year. Thank you to Marty and Jamie for everything that they do to make life better for the residents of Brooklyn and all of New York City. To our wonderful Honorees, Peter Meyer and Bruce Ratner, to Yvonne Riley-Tepie and Jack Rainey at TD Bank, to Ashley Cotton at Forest City Ratner Companies, to Tyler Bates and Arianna Kane at Barclays Center, to John Meyers with the 40/40 Club, and to Leo Ehrline with the Brooklyn Nets, for making this amazing evening a reality. Development News Highlights MANHATTAN - MID-1ST QUARTER 2020 PLUS AN OUTER BOROUGH SNAPSHOT Looking Ahead Climate Mobilization Act’s Local Law 97: The Next Steps In April 2019 New York City enacted what has been described as “representing some of the most ambitious climate legislation enacted by any large municipality in the world to date.” The centerpiece of the (9) bill Climate Mobilization Act signed by Mayor de Blasio on Earth Day is Local Law 97 (LL97) which will require buildings citywide that exceed 25,000 square feet to begin reducing carbon emissions relative to 2005 base year levels by 2024, with reductions of 40% by calendar year 2030, and 80% by calendar year 2050. A New York City Climate Advisory Board was reportedly appointed by the mayor in December as per the law; and its members represent “a broad cross-section of real estate, environmental and organizational expertise” according to reports. The board has been tasked with putting together a report “addressing all manner of questions around just how LL97 will work — ranging from how landlords should report emissions data to how the city should penalize owners for non-compliance to how it might structure an emission offset program.” Although the board’s recommendations to be outlined in a report and delivered to the mayor and speaker by the start of 2023 aren’t legally binding, they are “expected to be influential, especially given how many of the law’s finer points remain to be nailed down.” Some cited examples of the difficult issues to be addressed, which weren’t completely sorted out include: • How exactly building owners will be instructed to calculate and report their properties’ carbon emissions, for instance: – Accounting for tenant space that was unoccupied in a building during the year they were reporting, which is going to impact calculations and could, in this case, skew results and deliver an inaccurate representation of how the building is being used.

Contact: [email protected] Luke Kornet remembers watching the 2017 NBA Draft at his home. As names were called and picks were finalized on that June evening, he knew that he wouldn’t be drafted. Then he was called by his agent. Kornet’s agent, Jim Tanner, called him with many offers but none presented the same elements as the two-way contract that the Knicks offered him. As they mulled offers the two “went through all the possible options,” said Kornet, a former Vanderbilt standout who in 2017 set the NCAA record for three-pointers made by a 7-footer. “The two-way really seemed like a good option of staying in the states and making a solid income and also staying in front of a team and hopefully end up being called up in the year.” What is a Two-Way? After the NBA and its players’ union renewed the collective bargaining agreement in January 2017, in came lots of changes. The two sides agreed on a shortened preseason, new maximum contracts for veteran players and the introduction of two-way player contracts.
