The aquarium will be officially named the “SUMIDA AQUARIUM.” TOBU RAILWAY CO., LTD. (hereinafter, “TOBU RAILWAY”) has been building TOKYO SKY TREE TOWN in the Narihirabashi/Oshiage area of Sumida Ward, Tokyo, with the opening of the facility scheduled for May 22, 2012. ORIX Real Estate adopted the simple and straightforward “SUMIDA AQUARIUM” as the name for the aquarium, combining “Sumida,” the name of the surrounding region, with “aquarium.” The name reflects ORIX Real Estate’s ambitions to enhance the daily lives of local inhabitants with a neighborhood aquarium by developing a facility that has strong ties with the local community, which has a culture steeped in water affairs and fisheries centered on the Sumida River. In conjunction with the determination of the official name, ORIX Real Estate has also determined the aquarium’s logo. It features a simple design: a fish motif drawn in clean lines. The design has a somewhat nostalgic yet progressive feel, expressing the urban aquarium’s close affinity with the traditional Japanese aesthetic that the Tokyo Sky Tree® will exhibit to the world. The fish of the logo can be seen as overlaying each other, while at the same time dispersing in different directions. This symbolizes how the SUMIDA AQUARIUM will serve as a space for dissemination and expansion of new values. -more- The SUMIDA AQUARIUM facility aims to provide a place where visitors can relax and find a new source of strength by drawing inspiration and making new discoveries through exhibitions and activities that allow them to experience the “beauty of aquatic environments” and the “dynamism of life.” It also aims to stimulate visitors’ curiosity and appetite for knowledge by giving them a chance to learn about the relationship between living organisms and the environment. Utilizing its inherent potential to provide both entertainment and education, the SUMIDA AQUARIUM will conduct exhibitions and activities that explore new possibilities for both of these elements while providing new forms of value. -more- Outline of SUMIDA AQUARIUM Facility Facility name: SUMIDA AQUARIUM Planned opening date: May 22, 2012 Address: 1-1-2, Oshiage, Sumida Ward, Tokyo Access: Tokyo Sky Tree Station (currently Narihirabashi Station) on the Tobu Isezaki Line Oshiage Station on the Tobu Isezaki Line, Keisei Oshiage Line, Toei Asakusa Line, Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line Location: 5-6th floors, West Zone of TOKYO SKY TREE TOWN® Total floor space: 7,140 m2 Total water volume: Approx. 700 tons Facility design: Taisei Corporation Facility construction: Consortium of Taisei Corporation and Tobu Yachida Construction Image of entrance lobby Images provided by ENOSHIMA AQUARIUM -more- TOKYO SKY TREE TOWN® Facility Overview Site area: approx. 36,900 m2 Floor space: approx. 230,000 m2 Size of building: 31 floors above-ground, 3 floors below ground Primary uses: digital broadcasting tower, exhibition space (observatories), commercial facilities, aquarium, dome theater, school and offices, district air conditioning/heating facilities and parking lot Right: TOKYO SKY TREE TOWN zoning chart Below: Bird’s eye view of TOKYO SKY TREE TOWN ©TOKYO-SKYTREETOWN ©TOKYO-SKYTREETOWN About ORIX ORIX Corporation (TSE: 8591; NYSE: IX) is an integrated financial services group based in Tokyo, Japan, providing innovative value-added products and services to both corporate and retail customers. • Tokyo Public Transport Map Pdf
Tokyo public transport map pdf Continue Looking at the tokyo train map and the city train and subway can seem like looking at a dirty ball of yarn! It's a complex network of JR East and other private rail companies as well as a subway that intertwines seemingly endlessly, making it hard to understand for those who aren't local. In this guide we will help you understand and confidently navigate the complex railway system of Tokyo. Let's look at the number of railway lines in Tokyo, what are the systems, which ones are most convenient for sightseeing, and so on. About Tokyo Railways Japan's railway system can be divided into three categories: Japan Rail (JR), Metro and other private railways. JR is responsible for the Shinkansen bullet train, the backbone connecting major Japanese cities, and the rail network that connects metro areas to rural ones. JR is also a network covered under the legendary Japan Rail Pass, which allows foreign visitors to get a discounted pass across the country. The Tokyo metro system is divided into two owners: Tokyo Metro, operated by Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. and Toei Subway, operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Transportation Bureau. In addition, Tokyo has seven major private railway companies: Odakyu Electric Railway, Keio Corporation, Keiku Corporation, Casey Electric Railway, Seibu Railway, Tokyo Corporation and Tobu Railway. In addition, there is the Tokyo monorail, which runs between Haneda Airport and Hamamatsucho Airport; Yurikamome line, which is convenient when moving to the Odaiba area; and the Tokyo waterfront area of the Rapid Transit Rinkai Line.
