B. ATTENTION - (a) We desire to thank those who have paid their pledges to the Community Chest fund. It is the hope that all pledges will be paid this month - December,

(b) Arbor Week will be observed January 11-16, 1937, Mr. C, L, Wilson is making plans for Trees and Shrubbery,

(c) Mrs, R» R, Hoton, wife of Dr. Moton, formerly President of Tuskegee, will visit the institution this week - December 1 and 2,

(d) Governor Allred is Scheduled to visit Prairie View sometime Tuesday, December 1, 1936. Announcements about his coming will be made later. If he carries out his plans, this will be the first time a Texas Governor has ever visited Prairie Viev;.

C. AMONG OTHER THINGS - (a) Several families have made inquiries regarding the possibili­ ties of taking fire insurance oh their household goods, Mr. H, A. Dobbs, Citizen State Bank, Hempstead, Texas, represents some of the most substantial and reliable Fire Insurance Com­ panies in the Country. He has just informed us that he would be glad to insure the household goods of any one at Prairie View, It is important that we carry fire insurance. If any one is interested, kindly let me know, or contact Mr. Dobbs.

XV. AMONG OTHER THINGS - 1« The Local Alumni and Ex-Students Association, Mrs. E. B» Evans, President, has planned a worthwhile and far-reaching program of activities for 1937.

2. The Nautilus Club, Miss M. E. Suarez, President, has been responsible for the fine showing at the Guest House.

3. The Glee Club, under the direction of Professor 0. A. Fuller will make appearances at -

(a) Austin, Texas - January 4, to sing before 1000 School Superintendents.

(b) College Station, Texas - January 8, to Broadcast at 11:30 A. M., and 4:30 P. M., and a Public Concert in Guion Hall at 8:00 o'clock P. M.

We want to commend to your thoughtful consideration these words by President Homilty Hall, Rollins College -

1. "Nothing worthwhile comes easily. Half effort does not produce half results. It produces no results.

2. One must not expect things to happen too quickly. Patience may well be the watch­ word of every teacher.

3. No educational institution can educate any­ body. All education is self-education. A College can aid, clarify, elucidate, stimu­ late and point out the way, but the work must be done and the path must be trod by the individual."
