Abstract: Theefficacyofdoramectin(Dectomax,Pfizer)andmoxidectin(Cydectin,Abfar)againstgastrointestinalnematode infectionwasevaluatedincowswhichwerenaturallyinfectedwiththese.Forthatpurposeover100cows’faeceswere testedforgastrointestinalnematodeswiththesaturatedsaltsolutionmethod.Infectedcowswereselectedaccordingtothe McMastercriteria.Toestablishwhetherthecowswereinfectedwithgastrointestinalnematodes,theircoprocultureswerescreened forthepresenceofOstertagia,Haemonchus,Nematodirus and species.Thirtycowswhichhadacquirednematodes naturallywereallocatedtothreegroupsof10.Thecowsinthefirstandsecondgroupwereadministeredsubcutaneous1% doramectinandmoxidectinininjectableformat0.2mg/kg,respectively.Thethirdgroupwasseparatedasacontrol.Faecalsamples fromanimalswereexaminedoneweekbeforethestartoftreatmentandondays0,7and14oftreatment.Oneandtwoweeks afterthetreatment,theexaminationoffaecalsamplesfrombothtreatedgroupsshowedthatdoramectinandmoxidectinwere 100%effectiveagainstgastrointestinalnematodeinfection.Incontrast,theeggnumbersinthecontrolgroupwerevariablebutnot lower.
