All American Futurity Media Guide All American Futurity Ruidoso roulette The All American Futurity, in theory, is exactly like any other American Quarter Horse race run at 440 yards. Simply, 10 horses line up in the starting gate facing 440 yards of dirt track, the bell sounds and the horses sprint the quarter mile. However, it is one of the most challenging races offered to any horse of any breed because it is a daunting challenge to qualify to compete in the race. Competition is fierce at the All American trial races (a record 34 in 2015), where as many as 323 horses (2015) show up wanting the same thing, a chance in the final. Names and reputations mean nothing at this point and even if you paid the $50,000 supplement fee to get your horse in the trials, the only thing that will get the horse in the final is clocking one five-fastest times on each of the two trial days. The finalists are based on time, so a horse may not win, but still record a time that enables the horse to compete in the finals. If that gamble isn’t interesting enough, just deal in Mother Nature. Ruidoso Downs is at a 6,900-foot altitude in the Sacramento Mountains and there can be sudden, dramatic weather changes. A few trial races may be run in perfect conditions and other races may run in the rain or variable wind conditions. It is a challenging game to play, but the level of difficulty adds to the race’s prestige and the “my horse is faster than your horse” spirit that is the foundation of the All American Futurity. It is quite an achievement to be a contestant in the All American Futurity and a win is the goal of every quarter horse owner, trainer and jockey. Trial races The trial races are raced at 440 yards, the futurity distance, over two days. Each trial consists of 10 or fewer horses. The horses with the five-fastest times from each day of trials advance to the All American Futurity. The times of horses in separate trials will be determined by order of finish posted by the racing officials. No adjustments are made in the recorded time for head wind, tail wind or track conditions, etc. If a tie exists, the horses involved shall draw lots to determine which shall participate in the futurity. Eligibility and nominations The race is open to all two-year-olds registered with the American Quarter Horse Association. Nomination fees, sustaining payments and the trial entrance fee must be paid. An owner may nominate multiple horses. Payment schedule for 2018 All American Futurity Nomination fee: $250 on or before January 15th of the year prior to the race date Sustaining fees: $350 on or before March 15th of the year prior to the race date or supplement for $1,600 $400 on or before June 15th of the year prior to the race date or supplement for $2,200 $500 on or before November 15th of the year prior to the race date or supplement for $2,500 $600 on or before January 15th of the year the race is to be run $600 on or before March 15th of the year the race is to be run $1,000 on or before April 15th of the year the race is to be run Trial entrance fee: $1,200 on the entry day of the trial races or supplement for $50,000 1 Number of trials and trial entrants (1980-1992 includes elimination trials.) Abstract: Orville W. “Sonny” Martin Jr., an Oshkosh, Wisconsin native, describes his experiences growing up in a military family; serving in the 3 rd Platoon, A Company, 59 th Armored Infantry Battalion, 13 th Armored Division during World War II; training the 4th Field Artillery Battalion and the 35 th Quartermaster Pack Company during the Korean War; serving in Taiwan in 1959; and working at the Pentagon during the Vietnam War. Martin describes the service of his father, a Neenah (Wisconsin) native, during World War I and his parents’ wedding at Camp Stotsenburg (Clark Air Force Base) in the Philippines. Martin touches upon his military ancestry including a great-great-uncle, “General” Warren Healy, who was a drummer boy during the Civil War and became Paymaster General of New York during the Spanish-American War. Martin grew up an “Army brat” on various bases, including: West Point (New York), Fort Ethan Allen (Vermont), Fort Sill (Oklahoma), Schofield Barracks (Hawaii), Fort Hoyle (Maryland), Baton Rouge (Louisiana), and Fort Leavenworth (Kansas). He discusses at length his schooling and social interactions among children of officers and enlisted men. Martin details family life on the base which he calls a “very moral society.” Martin tells stories of corporal punishment and officers disciplining others’ children, a practice that faded in the 1960s.

  • The Late Registrations and Corrections to Greene County Birth Records
Index for Late Registrations and Corrections to Birth Records held at the Greene County Records Center and Archives The late registrations and corrections to Greene County birth records currently held at the Greene County Records Center and Archives were recorded between 1940 and 1991, and include births as early as 1862 and as late as 1989. These records represent the effort of county government to correct the problem of births that had either not been recorded or were not recorded correctly. Often times the applicant needed proof of birth to obtain employment, join the military, or draw on social security benefits. An index of the currently available microfilmed records was prepared in 1989, and some years later, a supplemental index of additional records held by Greene County was prepared. In 2011, several boxes of Probate Court documents containing original applications and backup evidence in support of the late registrations and corrections to the birth records were sorted and processed for archival storage. This new index includes and integrates all the bound and unbound volumes of late registrations and corrections of birth records, and the boxes of additional documents held in the Greene County Archives. The index allows researchers to view a list arranged in alphabetical order by the applicant’s last name. It shows where the official record is (volume and page number) and if there is backup evidence on file (box and file number). A separate listing is arranged alphabetically by mother’s maiden name so that researchers can locate relatives of female relations. Following are listed some of the reasons why researchers should look at the Late Registrations and Corrections to Birth Records: 1.

  • . . the Big Investment Part 2 This Month’S “Working Lines” Is Going to Take a Closer Look at the Sire Record of the Big Investment
The Working Lines By Larry Thornton . The Big Investment Part 2 This month’s “Working Lines” is going to take a closer look at the sire record of The Big Investment. Last month we saw that The Big Investment brought a new style to the modern pleasure horse. A style that was based on this wonderful conformation. This month we will look at what a bright future this sire had before his untimely death in 1986 at the age of six. Then we will look at one of the reasons why the influence of The Big Investment may continue through his offspring. The Big Investment sired only 129 foals with 93 of them being born in his 1986 and 1987 foal crops. He sired 74 AQHA performers with 66 point earners that have earned 63ROMs and 27 Superior Awards. This gives him an average of 89% point earners/ performers. This gives him 48.8% ROM from foals produced. He has an average of 56 points per performer. Here is an interesting side note on PHOTO BY PAMELA SNOW The Big Investment’s sire record. • Comparison of Head Morphometric Traits Within Five Selected Performance Types of Quarter Horses(Eguus Cabullus) Redacted for Privacy
AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Elana Morgana Smith for the degree of Master of Science in Animal Science Presented on October 25, 2002 Title: Comparison of Head Morphometric Traits Within Five Selected Performance Types of Quarter Horses(Eguus cabullus) Redacted for privacy Abstract approved: Thomas F. Savage A study was conducted to investigate if morphometric facial measurements could be utilized to differentiate five categorical performance types of Quarter Horses. The five categories being Western, Halter, English, Reining, and Cutting. The measurements were collected from 323 registered Quarter Horses representing animals who ranged in age from one year to 30 years of age and one of three gender (Stallion, Gelding, and Mare) categories. Eight facial measurements were obtained from two geographic areas, Florida and Oregon. A correlation was performed and resulted in a reduction of the data from eight to five facial measurements, due to the presence of facial symmetry. The reduced data was subsequently analyzed by Multivariate Analysis, using the Wilks Lambda Analysis of Variance. The Main effects, age, gender, and categorical performance type were all significant (p<0.0001 to 0.00 1). Of the two-way interactions only age:gender was not significant (p>0.05) and the three- way interaction age:gender:type was also not significant (p>O.O5) Based upon the not significant (J)>O.O5) Based upon the results, the five original performance categories could be reduced to four (English, Halter, Cutting, and Western/Reining). This indicates that there are a number of similarities in facial measurements between the Western and Reining horses.
