    NOOR 5 / Jon Lowenstein Jon Lowenstein Aftershock January 12, 2010. Four days before my fortieth birthday. NOOR 5 As the magnitude of the quake continued to grow I grew more and more interested. Five years ago, with the aim to work in a collaborative effort, a group of friends and like-minded photographers, started an agency, NOOR, which in Arabic means light. My fortieth passed and I sat idle working in frozen Chicago. Our desire was born out of a longing to break free of commercial constraints, of management dictates, of big agency politics and the devaluation of images.
