Tuesday 24 December 2019 Cricket fans encouraged to fill up for free at the Test Thirsty cricket fans heading to the Boxing Day Test will be able to fill up their water bottles for free thanks to a new partnership between health promotion foundation VicHealth and the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). 14 brand new state of the art water stations have been installed inside the ‘G, just in time for the blockbuster cricket season and the hot summer weather. The fountains, located throughout the internal concourse, will allow fans to fill their water bottles with cool, healthy drinking water, as well as drinking straight from the bubblers. VicHealth CEO Dr Sandro Demaio said the new fountains would provide families with a healthier, cheaper and environmentally friendly drink option at the MCG. “VicHealth is partnering with the MCG to give sports fans more healthy drink options while they enjoy the cricket action on the field this summer,” Dr Demaio said. “This also provides patrons with a more environmentally conscious alternative to sugary drinks in single-use plastic bottles. “With nearly a quarter of Victorian children above a healthy weight, we hope these fountains will lead to more kids drinking water as opposed to a sugary alternative.” Melbourne Cricket Club CEO Stuart Fox said the Club was pleased to be adding to the number of water stations available to fans at the MCG. “In the midst of Melbourne’s summer it isn’t just the cricket players who are battling the elements - the Boxing Day Test in particular can bring long days with plenty of time in the sun for fans as well. “Thanks to this initiative with VicHealth we will now have 28 locations across the stadium that patrons can utilise to refill their bottles with refreshing water, helping them stay healthy and hydrated. “The stations will also support our sustainability focus at the MCG – making them a win on all fronts.” Media contacts: MCC: Prue Cichello , Senior Media & Community Advisor, 03 9657 5547/0400 054 199 [email protected] VicHealth: Rachel Murphy Principal Media Advisor on 03 9667 1319 /0435 761 732 [email protected] .

VRC members’ arrangements at the MCG for the 2019/20 Cricket Season In accordance with the reciprocal arrangements between the Melbourne Cricket Club and the Victoria Racing Club, the following access arrangements will apply for current financial VRC members for the 2019/20 cricket season. International matches (Boxing Day Test match and one-day internationals) Current financial VRC members may purchase one visitor ticket for themselves and up to a further two for guests for days 4 and 5 (Dec 29 and 30) of the Boxing Day Test match between Australia and New Zealand and Australia’s T20 international match against Sri Lanka on November 1, which will give access to unreserved seating on levels 1 and 4 in the MCC Members Reserve. VRC members and their guests will be able utilise all bar and dining facilities and catering outlets in the Reserve with the exception of the Long Room, Jim Stynes Grill and Members Dining Room on level 2 and the Frank Grey Smith Bar on level 3. VRC members may only purchase visitor tickets from the ticket windows located on the right-hand side of Gate 2 on match days upon production of their valid VRC membership card. Please note that another form of identification may also need to be produced. Melbourne Cricket Ground Trust Annual Report 2019-20 (Artwork to be inserted) Chairman’s Report The context in which l write this report is unusual to say the least. I look back on the period of our last financial year (1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020 – the subject of this report) and remember 11 months of normality and strong outcomes for the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) precinct and then one month of huge upheaval and nervousness with the emergence and impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Looking forward, our thinking is both dominated and blurred by the uncertainties arising from the way the pandemic is unfolding globally, nationally and specifically here in Victoria. Its impacts effect everything we do and all our stakeholders, partners and our people. Every decision is made with multiple scenarios attached and with little capacity to control associated timelines. These are, indeed, unusual times. Our Executive Officer describes in more detail later in this report the facts and figures relating to activities and attendances at our stadium but suffice to say here that we had a bumper 2019 AFL season and an equally strong 2019/20 cricket season capped-off by the staging of the Women’s T20 World Cup played in early March this year between India and Australia in front of over 86,000 fans. The atmosphere at the Women’s final was electric and showcased the world’s two best T20 women’s cricket teams playing world class cricket. The local and international TV audiences were huge, testament to the now indisputable global and local interest in women’s sport.
