At first, he created a problem by calling Huey a scaredycat because Huey was afraid to jump off of the swing. That hurt Huey’s feelings and made him want to get stronger. Huey tries to get strong by doing pushups and situps, eating broccoli, and practicing falling out of bed. That caused Huey to hurt himself and start to cry. Julian created the whole problem of Huey hurting himself by calling Huey a scaredycat. This happened in “Superboy and Me.” Then Julian changes because when he realizes he caused a problem, he tries to solve it. After Julian realizes that Huey hurt himself because of what Julian had said, Julian apologizes. He says, “‘I really didn’t mean it. I was wrong. You’re brave.’” This happened in “Superboy and Me.” Then, his dad teaches him that he is a smart older brother who needs to take care of Huey. After that, Julian cheers for Huey when he jumps off of the swing. This happened in “Huey Makes the Leap.” Julian changes from “Superboy and Me” to “Huey Makes the Leap” because he solves the problem of hurting Huey. He solves the problem by apologizing and being a good older brother who supports Huey. Grade 3: The Stories Julian Tells .
