Cubs Wgn Schedule Cubs wgn schedule Continue It's a TV/radio kind of day as the Cubs also released their spring training broadcast schedule on Tuesday. Also on Tuesday, the Cubs released their television schedule for the 2019 regular season, the final year that they will have over-the-air broadcasts on WGN-TV and ABC7 Chicago. For WGN, which ends 72 consecutive seasons of broadcasting Cubs baseball, the longest-ever connection between a television broadcasting station and any sports team. I find myself a little surprised that WGN isn't making the last regular-season game this year; that seemed appropriate. Instead, their final broadcast will be Friday, September 27. Like last year, most games (except national broadcasts on ESPN or Fox) will be on NBC Sports Chicago, WGN or ABC7. NBCSCH will have up to 83 games, 45 will be on WGN and 25 on ABC7. Up to because the total comes to 153 games. The remaining nine will be broadcast in national seeded broadcasts of one type or another. If the national network comes calling for the game not on their schedule now, one or more of these channels could end up with fewer games. You note the three Sunday games (June 9, September 1st and September 22) are listed as TBD start time and can be selected for ESPN, although ESPN already has five other Cubs games for the SNB. Similarly, September 28, Saturday, may be selected for Fox-TV. That time is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. in St. Louis. NBC Sports Chicago and their predecessor CSN Chicago are currently in their 15th year of hosting the Cubs Game and for ABC7, this is their fifth and final year. The Cubs are expected to launch their own TV channel for the 2020 season. Len Casper is back for his 15th season in the booth and for analyst Jim Deshay, this is his seventh season broadcasting the Cubs game. Each regular-season Cubs telecast on NBC Sports Chicago, including the surrounding Cubs Pre/Postgame Live coverage, will be available live through the nbcsportschicago.com and NBC Sports Chicago app to authenticate NBC Sports Chicago subscribers. I also post broadcast information in every day of the game preview. Go to Content Cubs Hit the Field for What Should Be a Fascinating Season Under New Manager David Ross, starting Friday night at home against the Brewers. The first in a three-game series at Wrigley Field, it is also the beginning of an intense three months in which each MLB team will play 60 games in 66 days. The shortened 2020 season, which began Thursday night with the Yankees before the Nationals, runs through September 27 before the postseason. To limit travel, the Cubs will exclusively face teams from the NL Central and AL Central Division, including a three-game series against the White Sox, to complete the season. Marquee Sports Network, which was supposed to take over the Cubs local broadcasts in the spring, is becoming the new home of the TV team now. There are also a number of national television games, including two of the first three games against Milwaukee this weekend. For Cubs fans wanting to make sure they can watch all 60 games from the comfort of home this year, here's a complete breakdown of the team's television schedule and how to tune in. How can I get Marquee Sports Network? With the Cubs' move to Marquee, a partnership between the club and Sinclair Broadcast Group, this year, fans need to make sure they have a service that can access the network, either via cable or streaming.

Headlines of October 21, 2015 “GM Hahn working to find new bench coach” … Scott Merkin, MLB.com “Report: White Sox considering ex-Cubs manager Rick Renteria for bench coach” … CSN “Truth about Harry Caray: It was show business” … Josh Peter, USA Today Sports GM Hahn working to find new bench coach By Scott Merkin / MLB.com | @scottmerkin | October 20th, 2015 CHICAGO -- General manager Rick Hahn didn't present a specific timetable when asked during a 2015 season-ending media session about replacing Mark Parent as White Sox bench coach. "It takes as long as it takes to get the right guy," said Hahn, adding that they had put together a list of people of interest at season's end. "There could well be some turnover elsewhere that opens up some names that aren't on our list at this time." A source confirmed to MLB.com that former managers Manny Acta and Rick Renteria, as well as Raul Ibanez, are names on that list of potential bench coach candidates. The White Sox also talked to Sandy Alomar Jr., the Indians' first-base coach and highly respected former catcher over three different stints on the South Side. But a second source confirmed that Alomar Jr. is not a candidate for the vacancy. This hiring process could take a little longer than expected with bench coach possibilities also potentially being connected with managerial openings in Seattle, San Diego, Washington and/or Florida. Another possibility is moving Joe McEwing, the team's third-base coach, into the bench coach role and bringing in someone to take McEwing's spot.

They’re gone a decade, but Vince Lloyd’s, Red Mottlow’s voices remind of eternal friendships By George Castle, CBM Historian Posted Tuesday, February 19, 2013 Both great men are gone nearly 10 years. But I still consider them my friends, present tense, because I still hear their distinctive voices loud and clear, whether in memories of being on the air, offering wise counsel or only skimming the top of their encyclopedia of stories and ex- periences. I’ve got to keep their memory alive, because gen- erations who never heard them or knew them de- serve the benefit of their output as men and all- time sportscasters. Vince Lloyd and Red Mottlow had great influence on me growing up. As I got to know them closely as their senior-citizen days ap- proached and progressed, my only regret – a big Red Mottlow pounding away at his type- one -- is not getting more decades with them in writer with some of his broadcast corporeal form. awards on the wall behind him. Pioneering radio sports reporter Mottlow should have gotten his shot on the air at WGN. Subtracting these goals doesn’t take a shred away from their lifetime achievements. There was Lloyd’s rich baritone, hardly cracking when he bellowed “Holy Mackeral!” for a Cubs homer, intersecting with Mottlow’s staccato, rapid-fire “Red Mottlow, WCFL Sports” on mid-20th Century 50,000-watt Chicago-originated frequencies. There were kind, encouraging words amid the most political of businesses – sports media -- where negativity and a childish caste system still rule.
