We've designed this media guide to assist you throughout the weekend, whether it be to reference historical data, information on this year's event or information and statistics on our six weekend races. It also includes a section on transportation, hotels and restaurants to make your stay in Long Beach more efficient and enjoyable. Our three-day weekend is packed with activities on and off the track. In addition to the racing, two concerts will take place: on Friday night at 6:45 p.m., the Tecate Light Fiesta Friday concert will feature popular Mexican rock band "Moderatto," while on Saturday night, "SMG Presents Kings of Chaos Starring Billy Idol, Billy Gibbons and Chester Bennington" will entertain the Grand Prix crowd at the Rock-N-Roar Concert. The Lifestyle Expo, located in the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, will see more than 180,000 Grand Prix fans walk through multiple times. Our annual media luncheon takes place on Thursday, April 6, and will feature drivers from many of the racing series that will be here over the weekend. Patrick Long’s & Sebastien Bourdais’ Comments About the 8th Annual Kart 4 Kids Pro-Am Kart Race It’s only fitting that this year’s 8th annual Kart 4 Kids charity karting event takes place just a few steps from the entrance of Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St Pete. It’s also just a stone’s throw from Dan Wheldon Way. Each year the event grows, the funds raised increase, and the awareness around a special hospital and a group of kids accelerate. Thank you to our hosts, all of the sponsors, partners, donors, pro drivers, and especially the large committee of great volunteers who make the production of this event happen. This event started off as a humble gathering, with the goal of raising a few dollars in the name of Dan Wheldon for the Hospital. Dan was a St. Pete resident, and someone who had a lot of time for All Children’s. We continue to race in his memory and smile as status and organization of this gathering continues to reach new boundaries! A few milestones were reached in 2018 for Kart for Kids. We managed to donate 130k$ to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, bring the event downtown and reinforce the involvement of the community and sponsors thanks to our amazing group of volunteers. The response from the racing community was no less impressive, with many drivers from different series donating their apparel and time. 2019 will be no less impressive and I want to thank each and every individual for their continued support.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE HITACHI CONTINUES PARTNERSHIP WITH TEAM PENSKE IN 2019 TARRYTOWN, N.Y. (March 4, 2019) – Team Penske and Hitachi Group today announced a continuation of their partnership for the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series season. Team Penske will enter its 53rd year of racing competition in 2019, and Hitachi is proud to carry on its dynamic relationship with Team Penske for the eighth-consecutive season. Team Penske and Hitachi have shared success both on and off the track since becoming partners in 2012. After a productive five-year relationship with three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves, Hitachi was paired with 2017 IndyCar Series Champion Josef Newgarden beginning with the 2018 season. This year, the familiar Hitachi branding will adorn Newgarden’s No. 2 Dallara/Chevrolet for eight of the 17 IndyCar Series races. Newgarden tied for the series lead in wins (three) and poles (four) with Hitachi in 2018, elevating his career stats to include 10 wins, six poles and the series championship just two years ago. “I can’t wait for the 2019 season to start,” said Newgarden. “We learned a lot at the Circuit of the Americas test in February and we’ll apply that to the No. 2 Hitachi Chevrolet.
