The Orange were 4-3 through seven games, but ended the year on a fi ve-game losing streak. Syracuse went 2-6 in ACC play, including a 27-24 victory over second-ranked Clemson on Oct. 13. • Senior wide receiver Steve Ishmael earned All-America honors from nine diff erent media outlets and organiza ons. A 2017 Biletnikoff Award semifi nalist, Ishmael set the Syracuse single-season record with 105 recep ons. He ed SMU's Trey Quinn for the FBS lead in recep ons per game (8.8) and also ranked in the top 10 na onally in catches (2nd), receiving yards per game (4th - 112.2) and total receiving yardage (7th - 1,347). • Five members of the Orange earned All-ACC honors from the league offi ce: Ishmael (fi rst team), senior Syracuse Orange wide receiver Ervin Philips (second team), senior linebacker Parris BenneƩ (second team), senior kicker Cole 2017 Record: 4-8 Murphy (third team) and senior linebacker Zaire Franklin (honorable men on). Home: 4-3, Away: 0-5 • Ishmael and Philips closed their careers as the most produc ve pass-catching duo in program history with ACC Record: 2-6 Philips ranking No. 1 in recep ons (223) and Ishmael second (219). Non-Conference: 2-2 • The Orange ranked in the top 25 na onally in fi ve categories in 2017: punt return defense (4th - 2.7 ypr), vs. AP Top 25: 1-2 net pun ng (10th - 41.3 avg.), third-down defense (13th - 31.1 pct.), passing off ense (18th - 294.8 ypg) and Last Game: L, 14-42 vs. Boston College total off ense (23rd - 456.3 ypg). • All four Orange victories came in the friendly confi nes of the Carrier Dome, as Syracuse took down Central Connec cut State, Central Michigan, Pi sburgh and Clemson at the Loud House. Before the victory, 'Cuse last beat a top-10 team in 2002 when it defeated No. 8 Virginia Tech 50-42 in triple over me. The Orange's last win over a top-fi ve team was the year prior (2001) when it again beat the Hokies. All-ACC Honors • Syracuse scored 14 fi rst-quarter points in the game. Prior to the contest, the Clemson defense had Steve Ishmael, First Team not allowed more than seven points in the fi rst three quarters of any game in 2017. Ervin Philips, Second Team • Syracuse held the Tigers to 113 yards rushing, 91.1 yards below its season average of 204.1 at the me of Parris Bennett, Second Team the game. It also limited Clemson to 317 yards of off ense, 131.2 yards below its mark of 448.2 per contest. Cole Murphy, Third Team • Conversely, Syracuse rushed for 162 yards and generated 440 yards of total off ense. Both fi gures were the Zaire Franklin, Honorable Mention second-highest totals conceded by the Tigers all year. Only Georgia Tech's rushing total (198 yards) and NC State's total off ense fi gure (491 yards) were higher.     The Ensley Athletic Center is the latest major facilities addition to the Lampe Athletics Complex. The $13 million building was constructed in seven months and opened in January 2015. It serves as an indoor training center for the football program, as well as other sports. A multi- million dollar gift from Cliff Ensley, a walk-on who earned a football scholarship and became a three-sport standout at Syracuse in the late 1960s, combined with major gifts from Dick and Jean Thompson, made the construction of the 87,000 square-foot practice facility possible.
