The Beach Boys und Capitol feiern den goldenen Jahrestag des Kultalbums mit verschiedenen Special Editions

Eine 2CD-Edition mit unveröffentlichten Live-Versionen, Mono & Stereo Vinyl Editionen und die neue 4CD/Blu-ray Audio Collectors Edition, die das remasterte Album in Stereo, Mono, Instrumental, Hi Res & 5.1 Surround-Sound Mixes, plus zusätzlichen Studio- und Liveaufnahmen beinhaltet

The Beach Boys‘ Kultalbum “Pet Sounds” von 1966 wird weltweit als eines der, für die Popmusik, wichtigsten Alben aller Zeiten gezählt. Der 16. Mai 2016 stellt den 50. Jahrestag des Albums dar. Um diesen Meilenstein zu würdigen werden The Beach Boys und Capitol das Meisterwerk in einer erweiterten Edition veröffentlichen. Ab jetzt vorbestellbar wird die „Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Edition“ weltweit am 10. Juni 2016 in verschiedenen Konfigurationen veröffentlicht. Darunter eine 4CD/Blu-ray Audio Collectors Edition, präsentiert in einem festen Einband. Diese beinhaltet das remasterte Originalalbum in Stereo und Mono, Hi Res Stereo, Mono, Instrumentals sowie 5.1. Surround-Sound Mixes, Session Outtakes, Alternativmixe und bisher unveröffentlichte Liveaufnahmen. Die 2CD Deluxe-Edition paart das remasterte Album in Stereo und Mono mit einigen der zusätzlichen Tracks von der Collectors Edition. Auch wird es eine remasterte 180 Gramm Schallplatte geben, mit dem Album in Mono und Stereo und einer Neuaufarbeitung des Originalcovers.

Das 12. Studioalbum „Pet Sounds“ von The Beach Boys war bei unzähligen Kritiker- und Fanumfragen obenauf und hält seitdem einen zeitlosen Rang als eines der meistzitierten Einflüsse der Popmusik. Mehr als 100 nationale und internationale Publikationen und Journalisten lobten „Pet Sounds“ als eines der besten Alben aller Zeiten. 1998 kam es in die GRAMMY® Hall of Fame. Das mit Platin ausgezeichnete Album „Pet Sounds“ steht außerdem auf der „Greatest Albums of All Time“ Liste des MOJO Magazins auf Platz 1, während der Rolling Stone „Pet Sounds“ bei ihrer Liste auf Platz 2 der „500 Greatest Albums of All Time“ setzte.
