Anything you show someone from whom you want a professional opinion should be as professional as you can make it. Read your story aloud to yourself. Not in your head. Out loud. Read it to a friend, if that will help. You'd be amazed at what sounds fine on paper but ridiculous out loud. Write down in one sentence what your story's about. It can be a long sentence. For example: "Waterways is the journey of a young otter coming to grips with his newly realized sexuality." Or "Volle is about a young spy learning to think with his head as well as his sheath."     LUCAS, TORIE E., M.A. Wolves, Dragons, and Ponies… Oh My!: Fursonas and Stigmatization in the “Human” World. (2017) Directed by Dr. Gwen Hunnicutt 112 pp The “furry fandom” is a broad term that generally refers to a subculture in which members have shown a deep invested interest in anthropomorphic or zoomorphic creatures and artwork. A “furry” is referred to as an individual who cultivates a “fursona,” which is a unique character that is personified through an anthropomorphic or zoomorphic creature exhibiting both human and animal characteristics. These “fursonas” are typically exemplified through cartoon avatars and other forms of artwork and costuming. Current research centered on the furry fandom is quite limited and primarily focuses on psychological frameworks regarding identity formation. For the purposes of this study, I utilized a broader understanding of identity cultivation, management, and concealment within a stigmatized subgroup, by incorporating sociological constructs based around identity performance and anthropological conceptions of masking. I can't even be specific about which cult 1960s TV series turns out to be vitally important. However, I can and will say that I enjoyed The Laputan Factor very much, and that if you like your furry fiction with buff, wisecracking characters, action, and a touch of mystery, you'll probably enjoy it too. At just over 200 pages in the softback edition, this is a long novella, and those pages are packed with external and inner conflicts for both O'Connell and Kovach. The pace is fast and the writing flows easily. There's a temptation to burn through the chapters and find out what happens next, but you may miss something important if you let impatience get the better of careful reading.

The tiniest of blips compared to the 45,000 furs who attended conventions worldwide in 2015. The lion‟s share of those fans—about 35,000—gathered at the 40-plus furcons held in North America, from Reno Nevada (“The Biggest Little Furcon”) to Edmonton Canada (“Fur- Eh!”); eleven of those conventions attracted over a thousand furs; several, multiple thousands. Furry conventions have been held across Europe,1 in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines…the list goes on.
