Victorian Report (continued) LARDNER PARK STEER TRIAL

The 2010 - 2011 Lardner Park Steer trial has again commenced, with a total of 62 steers entered. The first weighing took place on the 28th of June, and once again the Red Poll Breed is well represented with an entry of a pair of steers from Ketlang Red Poll Stud in the first turn off and an entry of a pair of steers in both the first and the second turn off from John Fowler. The range of breeds entered this year is very diverse with most British breeds and their crosses and a number of European breeds all vying for the title of best pair of steers overall, which is the highest combined points for weight gain and carcase. Hopefully the Red Poll breed can continue its outstanding results from the last two trials. MARK HARRIS
