It is the annunciation of salvation for the world. It is the first feast of the Lord. It is an annunciation of love, because the reason of the Incarnation and Redemption is the love of God for the world. The Lord Christ has offered to us rejoicing annunciations and has presented God to us as a loving Father. What shall we then announce to people? Notas sobre Pedro Berruguete y el retablo mayor de la catedral de Avila MA Pilar SILVA MAROTO La figura de Pedro Berruguete ha sido objeto de la atención de la crítica nacional e internacional desde que su nombre fuera rescatado del olvido por Ceán en 1800 i• Después, paso a paso, se han ido reconstruyendo su biografía y su obra, aunque, por desgracia, aún quedan muchas lagunas. Curiosamente, éstas afectan, más que a la identificación del estilo de las obras realizadas en España, que se conoce de modo indirecto a través de ha documentación 2 a su interpretación y valoración, particularmente en lo Diccionario Histórico de los más ilustres profesores de las Bellas Artes en España. 1. p. ¶46. Se conoció hasta fines del XVI, corno comprobamos en 1590 en Diego de Villalta. al hacer relación del libro de Hernando de Avila. Más tarde. su nombre se perdió, oscurecido por el de su hijo Alonso, el gran escultor Palomino no le menciona y Ponz llegó a dudar de su existencia al rererirse a su supuesta intervención en la sala capitular de la catedral dc Tole- do. obra de Borgoña. La amplia bibliografía que existe sobre él ha sido recogida en su prácti- ca totalidad en un libro editado por la FUE en 1985: Pedro Berruguete. coordinado por M,a de los Santos Garcia Thlguera, por lo que me limito a incluir sólo los libros o aruiculos especilicos de cada cita, remitiéndome a éste para el resto. 2 Son tres los datos que se refieren a obras conservadas, tino de ellos alude a las dos es- cenas de la antepuerta de la capilila de San Pedro de la catedral de Toledo, Gracias a San Rornán («La capilla de San Pedro en la catedrat de Totedo». -

El Greco, a mediator of modern painting Estelle Alma Maré Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria E-mail: [email protected] Without clear articulation of their insights, except in painted copies of and citations from his works, various modern artist seem to have recognised that formally El Greco’s late paintings are mental con- structs, representing only a schematic version of reality. El Greco changed the communicative function of painting from commenting on reality to constituting a reality. It is proposed that modern artists in a quest for a new approach to painting found El Greco’s unprecedented manner of figural expression, extreme degree of anti-naturalism and compositional abstraction a source of inspiration. For various painters that may have been a starting point in finding a new paradigm for art that was at a loose end after the influence of disciples of the French Academy terminated. Vir verskeie kunstenaars was dit waarskynlik ’n aanknopingspunt vir die verwesenliking van ‘n nuwe paradigma vir kuns wat koers verloor het nadat die invloed van die dissipels van die Franse Akademie geëindig het. -

But the ideas that flowered there spread far and wide —including to Spain, where their greatest exponent was Alonso Berruguete, an electrifying sculptor now the subject of a small show at the National Gallery of Art. Dickerson III of the National Gallery, Mark McDonald of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Wendy Sepponen of the Meadows Museum at Southern Methodist University, where it travels after closing in Washington, “Alonso Berruguete: First Sculptor of Renaissance Spain” brings together about three dozen works in all media, along with about a dozen more works by other artists for context, including his painter father, Pedro. This is the first National Gallery show exclusively devoted to so-called Golden Age Spanish sculpture, and one’s reaction after taking in its rich polychromy, emotional intensity and ability to engage with the viewer in a way that makes all other European sculpture of the period seem diffident or aloof is to say: More, please. -

The concept of the grotesque originated from the finding of Domus Aurea in the 1480s. These grottoes had once been part of Nero’s palace, and the images and paintings that were found on its walls were to result in a break with the formal and naturalistic ideals of the Quattrocento and the mid-renaissance. By the end of the Cinquecento, artists were working in the mannerist style that had developed from these new ideas of innovativeness, where excess and artificiality were praised, and artists like El Greco worked from the standpoint of creating art that were more perfect than perfect. The grotesque became an end to reach this goal. While Mannerism is a style, the grotesque is rather an effect of the ‘fantastic’.By searching for common denominators from earlier and contemporary studies of the grotesque, and by investigating the grotesque origin and its development through history, I have summarized the grotesque concept into three categories: between form, beyond language and beside the sublime. -

INFORME DE RESULTADOS DE LA CONSULTA A ASOCIACIONES VECINALES RELATIVA AL ESTADO DE LA LIMPIEZA EN LA CIUDAD DE MADRID Madrid, 29 de septiembre de 2016 Informe de resultados de la consulta a las asociaciones vecinales relativa al estado de la limpieza en la ciudad de Madrid. (septiembre 2016) 1. INTRODUCCIÓN La preocupación por la limpieza y el mantenimiento del viario urbano y de espacios públicos como plazas, parques y jardines ha formado parte de las prioridades de las asociaciones vecinales desde su origen, hace casi 50 años. A lo largo de su historia, las entidades ciudadanas no han cesado de defender, a través de acciones de todo tipo, unos barrios y pueblos limpios y saludables. Lo han hecho como hacen con otros asuntos, conjugando la denuncia pública y la protesta en la calle con la negociación y la colaboración con la Administración y los representantes públicos, sean del color que sean. La Federación Regional de Asociaciones Vecinales de Madrid (FRAVM), que aglutina actualmente a 270 entidades de la comunidad autónoma, lleva años alertando del deterioro de los servicios públicos de la capital, incluidos los relativos a limpieza viaria, recogida de basuras y mantenimiento de parques y jardines. Lo hicimos durante el mandato de Alberto Ruiz Gallardón- Ana Botella y lo hacemos ahora con Manuela Carmena, recogiendo siempre el mandato de nuestras asociaciones federadas, que a su vez recogen el sentir de sus vecindarios. Hoy, más allá del uso partidista e interesado que puedan hacer algunas formaciones políticas, la realidad es que esos vecindarios están profundamente preocupados por el déficit de limpieza que padecen los barrios y la ciudad, un problema que el actual equipo de gobierno no ha sido capaz de mejorar en sus 15 meses de andadura.
