Described by journalists as “heavy like a mammoth and furious like Morbid Angel” (Reinier de Vries - powerofmetal.dk), “on this mission to sound unique at all costs they go on quite successfully" (ROCK HARD Germany), an ”artisan- arranged complex and challenging endeavor" (METAL HAMMER Germany) with “the impeccably tight musicianship showcased here is dazzling" (Faye Coulman - Terrorizer UK), "Infernal Tenebra surely do represent a new league of technically skilled Modern Death Metal bands" (Ivan Tibos - ConcreteWeb). Originating with pure black metal in the 1999, adding a death metal foundation in the following years, with two self- released albums “Beneath the Twilight” and “The Essence of Chaos”, the band was constantly pushing and evolving its sound with rock solid rhythms, dynamic and technical solos, powerful vocals and a distinct blend of melody, groove and sheer brutality. Sharing stage and opening for a vast number of metal icons including Behemoth, Gojira, Kreator, Exodus, Fear Factory and Devin Townsend, the band is extremely passionate to play live shows. Infernal Tenebra played on big metal festivals like Bloodstock Open Air (UK), Metaldays (SLO), Trondheim MetalFest (NO), PPM Fest (BE) and toured Japan in 2014 with Rotting Christ and Havok. The journey to music excellence continues with the newest 2016 album “As Nations Fall”, produced by Jens Bogren and released by Massacre Records. Brown, Advisor Between 1984 and 1991, heavy metal became one of the most publicly popular and commercially successful rock music subgenres. The focus of this dissertation is to explore the following research questions: How did the subculture of heavy metal music between 1984 and 1991 evolve and what meanings can be derived from this ongoing process? How did the contextual circumstances surrounding heavy metal music during this period impact the performative choices exhibited by artists, and from a position of retrospection, what lasting significance does this particular era of heavy metal merit today? A textual analysis of metal- related materials fostered the development of themes relating to the selective choices made and performances enacted by metal artists. These themes were then considered in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and age constructions as well as the ongoing negotiations of the metal artist within multiple performative realms. Occurring at the juncture of art and commerce, heavy metal music is a purposeful construction. Metal musicians made performative choices for serving particular aims, be it fame, wealth, or art. These same individuals worked within a greater system of influence. Metal bands were the contracted employees of record labels whose own corporate aims needed to be recognized.

    ROTTING CHRIST TIL INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL 2014 Greske ROTTING CHRIST er bekreftet til INFERNO METAL FESTVIAL 2014. Bandet startet helt tilbake i 1987 og har gitt ut hele 11 album. Deres nyeste skive, «Kata Ton Daimona Eaytoy», kom ut tidligere i år og er intet mindre enn et mesterverk. Det blir extreme metal på sitt beste når bandet nå vender tilbake til Norge. ROTTING CHRIST Rotting Christ ble etablert helt tilbake i 1987 og er kjent for å være det første black metal- bandet fra Hellas. Etter 26 år er bandet et av de som har holdt det gående lengst uavbrutt innenfor hele black metal-genren. Bandet har gitt ut en rekke album som i dag blir ansett som klassikere, som de tidlige black metal-skivene «Thy Mighty Contract» og «Non Serviam», samt 90-tallets mer gotisk-pregete «A Dead Poem». Let’s explain… …Only two years ago, dynamic frontwoman and world-class vocalist Jennifer Haben and her band colleagues celebrated their live debut on stage at the legendary Wacken Open Air 2014. While there was not actual metal during that time, bands were experimenting with heaviness, and it was no surprise that the first metal band (Black Sabbath) was soon to be born. Metal music is a worldwide form of music that has held the attention of younger generations for over 50 years. Metal music has branched off into different sub genres, but one thing is the main motivator for the survival of metal music through all the generations. That is a need for younger generations to rebel against the status quo, to express themselves and their frustration of an outdated way of life. This paper presents the development of metal music from the 1960s to the present day, with special emphasis on some of the metal sub-genre of music. Originally, metal was one genre. But as time passed more genres were born. Today metal is a global movement and has hundreds of sub-genres such as Heavy, Death, Black, Doom, Power, Thrash, Speed, Folk, Industrial, Symphonic, Gothic & Nu-Metal, to name just a few. They range from sheer brutality to smooth and melodic rhythms.
