With 9 participating schools and the possibility of 18 participants in a weight class, pigtail matches (nobody will be eliminated with one loss) will be determined at the seeding meeting on Feb 5th in order to maintain the 16 entry bracket E. PRE-TOURNAMENT MEETINGS Pre-Seeding will be done by the Track Wrestling Program- No Pre-Seeding Meeting will be needed. An Email from Track Wrestling will be sent to the Coaches on Friday Jan 31st. Coaches will be responsible for entering their varsity and second varsity wrestler’s information for seeding prior to noon on Tuesday, February 4th. Head to Head results will need to be entered by noon on Wednesday, February 5th. Any changes after the seeding meeting will need to be emailed to Mark Perry and Kevin Judkins. Coaches Seeding Meeting: 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 5th @ SHS Room G-188 (WESCO Post-Season meeting 6:00 pm Room G-188) Coaches Meeting: 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 7th @ Hospitality Room SHS F. SESSION SCHEDULE Friday, February 7th Weigh-In Skin Checks starting @ 2:45pm SHS Wrestling Room Weigh-Ins @ 3:00 SHS Wrestling Room Wrestling 5:00 (5 mats) 2 Championship Rounds 1 Consolation Round Saturday, February 8th Weigh-In Skin Checks @ 8:45am SHS Wrestling Room Weigh-Ins @ 9:00am EHS Wrestling Room Wrestling 10:30am (3 Mats) Finals 3:00 (approx.) (3 Mats) G. WEIGHT INFORMATION 1. Each participant will be allowed a one-pound weight allowance on Saturday. 2. There will be NO Doctor on site for skin check at weigh-ins. Officials decision will be final. H. ADMISSION PRICES – Each Day (Doors will open to fans 1 hour prior to start of wrestling) Adults $7.00 Students’ w/ASB, Seniors & Children $5.00 I. PASSES 1. Acceptable Passes: NW District All Classification Event Supervisory Pass Working Pass (doctor, press, etc.) Participants (by fact sheet pass list) Lifetime & WIAA Pass Washington State Coaches Association Membership Card w/ID WSSAAA Membership Card w/ID ** No other passes will be accepted!!! 2. Coaches will forward a pass list (attached) for participants and 8 support personnel (coaches, managers, statisticians, trainers, etc.) to the Mark Perry, no later than Thursday, February 6th. Wrestlers who are eliminated from the tournament on Friday, will be admitted free of charge on Saturday as long as they report with the team. 3. Cheer staff in uniform will be admitted free. However, each school will be limited to a maximum of four at mat side. Each school will be limited to eight cheerleaders, who are to be listed on the attached pass list. J. AWARDS 1. Medals will be awarded to weight class champions. 2. Individual ribbons will be presented to alternate and above during the championship session. 3. A team award will be presented immediately following the final medal presentation to the first place team. K. REGIONAL QUALIFIERS Top four finishers in each weight division will qualify for the Regional Wrestling Tournament at Bonney Lake High School on Saturday, Feb. 15th. The 5th place finishers will be WESCO North league alternate at that weight. L. OFFICIALS 1. Officials will be assigned from the Snohomish County Officials' Association, and the Pacific N.W. Officials’ Association. 2. The six officials on Friday and four on Saturday selected to officiate the tournament will be determined by League requests, the Associations' recommendations, and the availability of the officials. 3. The officials will be alternated throughout the entire tournament, including the finals. M. DISPUTES Any disputes occurring at the tournament will be presented to the Tournament Director, Mark Perry, and he will confer with the Tournament Committee present. Their decision will be final. N. SPECIAL PROBLEMS The Tournament Director is empowered to make any decisions and judgments deemed necessary that are not specifically covered by these instructions. O. MEET PROCEDURE INFORMATION 1. Dressing Rooms a. Locker rooms will be available. b. BE SURE: (1) Wrestlers deposit all debris in waste cans (3) Bulletin boards are left untouched (4) Each coach will discuss the proper care of locker rooms and shower rooms with the team. 2. Each school or participant must furnish their own towels. Stanwood High School will NOT furnish towels. 3. Valuables should NOT be left in the dressing rooms. 4. Floor Restrictions a. No one will be permitted to enter the wrestling area except coaches, managers, wrestlers and on deck wrestlers. b. A coach, assistant coach, trainer, or manager will be permitted to sit in the chairs while they have an athlete wrestling. The limit is two coaches (individuals) per school at a mat. 5. News Media Photographers Only those approved by the Tournament Director will be allowed inside the mat area. 6. Student Reporters and Photographers One photographer and one reporter per school will be allowed floor privileges. However, they must be identified by a letter from their school and the floor privileges cleared through the Tournament Director. 7. Signs and Noise Makers No signs except official school banners will be allowed. No artificial noisemakers permitted. 8. Concessions SHS Athletics will operate a concession stand. 9. Hospitality Room A hospitality room for event workers, coaches & officials will be provided. 10. Souvenir Shirts Snohomish Wrestling Booster Club will sell souvenir shirts on both Friday & Saturday. 11. Trainers / First Aid First Aid and training needs will be headed by the Snohomish HS Head Trainer. 12. Publicity Final scores and place winners will be faxed to the Everett Herald and Seattle Times on Saturday evening. P. SPECIAL INTRODUCTION BEFORE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND This procedure will be reviewed at the pre-tournament meeting. Q. TEAM SCORING Varsity and J.V. wrestlers score for their team. 1. Team Placement First Place - 16 points Third Place - 9 points Fifth Place - 5 points Second Place - 12 points Fourth Place - 7 points Sixth Place - 3 points 2. Advancement Points a. Two team "advancement points" will be scored for each match won in the championship bracket, except for the final round. If a wrestler receives a bye in the first round, he will be awarded two "advancement points" for that round if he wins his next match. No points are awarded for the bye if the wrestler loses his next match. b. One point will be awarded if you win the consolation bracket, except for the finals matches for 3rd and 5th places. 3. Points for Defaults, Disqualification, Falls or Forfeits a. Two additional points will be scored for each match won by default, disqualification, fall or forfeit throughout the tournament b. One and one-half points will be awarded for each match won by a technical fall. c. One point will be awarded for each match won by a major decision (8 - 14 points). 4. Other Scoring a. In tournament scoring six places, the winner of each championship semi-final shall be awarded twelve place points, and the winner of each championship final shall be awarded four additional place points. The winner of each consolation semi-final shall be awarded seven place points, and the winner of the third shall receive two additional place points. b.
