To sum it up, the STEM coordinator is an extremely valuable position for delivering STEM program in your unit. It’s a fun position that allows someone to be creative in getting STEM activities to the youth. More importantly it will give the Scouts the opportunity to have fun with STEM, earn awards and potentially develop an interest that could lead to a successful science career. Thank you – Kiwanis Club of Monroe, Wisconsin

We often hear the quote, “It takes a village to raise a child.” In a similar way it takes a tremendous number of volunteers to maintain a Boy Scout camp. Canyon Camp has been blessed with wonderful volunteers throughout its 80 years as a Boy Scout Camp. For 41 of those 80 years the Kiwanis Club of Monroe, Wisconsin, has sponsored workdays and work weekends. This past May was the 41st annual Kiwanis Work Weekend at Canyon Camp. Each year funding for project materials and food have been donated by this club. In addition, the annual fall Woodcutter’s Ball has been Kiwanis-funded for the past 38 years. On October 8th Kiwanis members provided over 80 man hours of service to Canyon Camp. They were joined by over 30 other Scouts and Scouters to complete 26 work projects at camp. It was a tremendous day of work and fellowship for all. Support is not measured in just dollars. Although the Monroe Kiwanis Club has given The ‘No One-on-One Contact’ Provision in excess of $50,000 over the years, it has also given manpower.
