Site #31 Cambusbarron The Original 2017 Full-Length Chapter OutlandishScotland.com A Novel Holiday Travel Guidebook Outlandish Scotland Journey Cambusbarron Original 2017 Chapter 2 Cambusbarron: Site #31 Once a Contender for the Fraser’s Ridge Outlander Season FOUR Film Site We wrote this chapter (and published its entirety in the 2017 edition of the Outlandish Scotland Journey Part Four eBook) back when Cambusbarron’s Gillies Hill was a strong contender for Fraser’s Ridge—a long-term film site that would feature in Outlander’s Season Four: Drums of Autumn. In January of 2018 we learned that the plan to film in Cambusbarron had officially been abandoned. “The Outlander production team earlier sought permission to build [the Fraser’s Ridge] set in woods outside Cambusbarron, near Stirling. “However, this plan is no longer going ahead.” https://www.scotsman.com/news/outlander-cast-and-crew-return-to-fife-village-1-4669949 It is unclear whether the Outlander production team withdrew their request, or whether the Cambusbarron Community Council denied them permission to film in the area. Basically, it doesn’t matter. Cambusbarron is NOT an Outlander Season Four film site. To avoid renumbering all subsequent chapters, we replaced the original, full-length Cambusbarron chapter with a starkly abbreviated version in Outlandish Scotland Journey Part Four. Having spent weeks researching and writing it, however, we hated the idea of simply discarding it. So, we didn’t! Beginning on the next page, you’ll find this chapter’s original, 2017 manuscript. Outlandish Scotland Journey Cambusbarron Original 2017 Chapter 3 Cambusbarron: Site #31 Outlander Season FOUR Film Site—Maybe! [Internet-posted pic, ©unknown segment (enhanced)] This chapter is published as a “work in progress” because nothing has been filmed here—as of this writing.

The result of the work for the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is reported here. Hence as well as listing the landscape qualities which are generic across the park, the qualities for the four landscape areas of Argyll Forest, Loch Lomond, Breadalbane and the Trossachs are also given.

  • View Preliminary Assessment Report Appendix D Assessment Summary
Access to Argyll & Bute (A83) Strategic Environmental Assessment & Preliminary Engineering Services Route Corridor Preliminary Assessment Route Corridor 14 – Coilessan Glen Route Corridor Details Route Corridor Option Route Corridor 14 – Coilessan Glen Route Corridor Description This route corridor is a combination of new offline carriageway and online upgrading works. The route corridor starts at the A83 Trunk Road at Ardgartan to the east of the A83 at Rest and Be Thankful, where a new section of road will take the route south along the west side of Loch Long before turning west at Coilessan Glen to Lochgoilhead. The overall length of the route corridor is approximately 19 kilometres. The route then generally follows the existing road network, B839 and A815 from Lochgoilhead to the A83 Truck Road at Cairndow. Rationale for Route Corridor The Coilessan Glen route corridor was a suggestion submitted as part of the recent public consultation on A83 Access to Argyll and Bute project. This route corridor is considered to offer a potential alternative access route into Argyll and Bute bypassing the main landslide risk area on the A83 Trunk Road at the Rest and Be Thankful. Geographic Context The route corridor lies within the Argyll & Bute region, which comprises solely of the entirety of the Argyll & Bute local authority area. The route corridor end points are located a straight-line distance of approximately 30-37 miles from the city of Glasgow. The eastern extents of the route corridor is situated on the north shore of Loch Long and the A83 Trunk Road at Ardgartan. The route corridor then heads south along the west side of Loch Long before turning west along Coilessan Glen until it reaches Lochgoilhead.

  • Surveys of Cnoc Coinnich, Cruach Nan Capull and Cruach Nam Mult
Surveys of Cnoc Coinnich, Cruach nan Capull and Cruach nam Mult 7, 8 and 9 May 2016 The Teams: Cruach nan Capull Surveyors – John Barnard and Graham Jackson of G&J Surveys. Guest surveyors – C Crocker, R Cooper, M Thompson, W Robinson and P D Cottam Cnoc Coinnich and Cruach nam Mult Surveyors – John Barnard and Graham Jackson of G&J Surveys. 1) Introduction These surveys were part of the continuing project with the Scottish Mountaineering Trust (SMT) to measure accurate heights for several Scottish mountains. Cruach nan Capull (Hill Number 1432, Section 19C, OS 1:50000 Map 63, OS 1:25000 Map OL37S 362N 363S, Grid Ref. NS095795) is listed as a Graham (a hill at or above 2000ft (609.6m) with greater or equal to 150m of drop) in the Database of British and Irish Hills (DoBIH). With a map height of 611m, it is quite possible that when measured accurately, the hill could be less than the criterion height of 609.6m, since heights measured by photogrammetry have an associated uncertainty of +/-3m. Cruach nam Mult (Hill Number 1433, Section 19C, OS 1:50000 Map 56, OS 1:25000 Map OL37N 363N, Grid Ref. NN168055) is also listed as a Graham and has a map height of 611m and similarly could be less than 2000ft if its height were measured accurately. Cnoc Coinnich (Hill Number 1423, Section 19C, OS 1:50000 Map 56, OS 1:25000 Map OL37N 363N, Grid Ref. NN233007) is a 761m Graham. This hill is just 1m lower than the criterion height for a Corbett (762m) and therefore an accurate determination of its height could well lead to its reclassification as a Corbett.
