BOSON MO discovered the violin at the age of seven and has since received numerous national and international distinctions. Winner of Third Prize at the 2013 Michael Hill International Violin Competi- tion, Boson was the recipient of the “Prix Joseph-Rouleau” at the 2010 Montreal International Violin Competition, and was a participant at the Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition, the Menuhin International Violin Competition, and the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. Boson most recently won Canada’s prestigious Sylva Gelber Foundation Award, and has also re- ceived the Canadian Music Educators’ Association’s W. Harvey Award for the Best Small Ensemble Performance, Third Prize at the Concours OSM Standard Life, and First Prize at the Canadian Music Competition. As Young Artist in Residence of American Public Media’s “Performance To- day,” Boson is currently being broadcast nationally in the U.S. via National Pub- lic Radio (NPR). In addition, his performances have also been featured on Radio New Zealand and CBC Radio-Canada. Boson has performed as soloist with the Auckland Philharmonia (New Zealand), Orchestre symphonique de Longueuil (Canada), the CIM Orchestra, and the F.A.C.E. Symphony Orchestra; he has also been featured in recitals by the Banff Centre for the Arts, the Montreal Chamber Music Festival, the Aspen Music Festival and School, Da Camera of , Début Atlantic, and the Jeunesses Musicales du Canada. A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, Boson is pursuing a Doctoral degree at the Shepherd School of Music under Paul Kantor. He enjoys regular trio collaborations with cellist Desmond Hoebig and pianist Andrew Staupe, and has also performed in recital alongside Vivian Hornik Weilerstein, Paul Katz, Roger Tapping, James Dunham, etc. Boson has attended the Perlman Music Program (New York), the Masterclasses and Chamber Music Residency at the Banff Centre, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival (Maine), Morningside Music Bridge (Calgary), and the Aspen Music Festival and School. Boson currently performs on a violin by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume (1871), gra- ciously on loan from the Canada Council for the Arts.

ANDREW STAUPE is emerging as one of the distinctive voices of a new generation of pianists. In 2012 he made his Carnegie Hall debut to critical acclaim, in which New York Concert Review raved “Staupe gave a bril- liant performance, handling the virtuosic demands with apparent ease… I was stunned. This was one of the most incredible performances… A once in a lifetime performance!” Andrew has appeared with the Minnesota Orchestra on five subscription series since 2006, and has performed with the Baltimore Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Houston Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and many other orchestras throughout the United States. He has collaborated with conductors Osmo Vänskä, Jahja Ling, Gerard Schwarz, Andrew Litton, Lucas Richman, Josep Caballé-Domenech, Daniel Hege, Robert Franz, Cristian Măcelaru, and Mischa Santora. He has performed across the United States and extensively in Europe, appearing in Russia, The Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Romania, France, Germany, and Bulgaria. On tour in Europe, he has appeared in distinguished concert venues including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Rachmaninov Hall in Moscow, the Salle Cortot in Paris, and the Ateneul Român in Roma- nia. An avid chamber musician, Andrew has collaborated with distinguished artists such as Chee-Yun, Martin Chalifour, Jessica Rivera, Sharon Robinson, the Assad Brothers, Cho-Liang Lin, Desmond Hoebig, and Joseph Swensen. He was a guest artist at the 2014 La Jolla Summerfest, the 2010 Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival, and the Glacier Symphony’s 2013 Festival Amade- us. Andrew has a keen interest in performing new music and has premiered a number of works for solo piano and chamber ensemble by composers How- ard Shore, Sarah Kirkland Snider, Christopher Walczak, Christopher God- dard, Karl Blench, and Anthony Brandt. Other notable performances include concerts at the Kennedy Center and the Library of Congress in Washington DC, and Steinway Hall and Trinity Wall Street in New York City. His live performances have been broadcast nationally on WQXR in New York City, KSJN in Minneapolis, and KUHF in Houston. He has also performed twice on American Public Media's “Performance Today,” and on Garrison Keillor's ”A Prairie Home Companion” in 2004. Andrew has earned prizes in a number of competitions including the 2011 Pro Musicis International Award, Gold Medal at the 2010 Young Artists Music Competition, and first prize at the 2006 WAMSO Competition. A native of Saint Paul, Minnesota, he is currently completing his D.M.A in Piano Performance at with Jon Kimura Parker. Andrew completed his B.M. and M.M. in Piano Performance at the University of Min- nesota, studying with pianist and Distinguished McKnight Professor Lydia Artymiw.

DESMOND HOEBIG, Professor of Cello at The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, has had a distinguished career as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician. Desmond was born in 1961 and raised in , Canada. He studied with James Hunter, Jack Mendelsohn and Ian Hampton. In 1978 he moved to Philadelphia to study with at the Curtis Institute of Music. He received his BM and MM at the Juilliard School with and Channing Robbins, and participated in master classes with Janos Starker and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi at the Banff Centre. Mr. Hoebig won the First Prize at the Munich International Competition (1984), the Grand Prize of the CBC Talent Competition (1981) and the Canadi- an Music Competition (1980). He was also an award winner at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (1982). Mr. Hoebig has been a soloist with many prominent orchestras in North America, including Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Montreal, and Vancouver. His international orchestral engagements have been in Germany, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Mexico and Colombia. As a chamber musician, Desmond was the cellist with the Orford String Quartet when they won a Juno award for the best classical music album in 1990. He has also performed for 30 years with the Hoebig-Moroz Trio and in a duo with Andrew Tunis. Mr. Hoebig has taught and performed at festivals throughout North America, including Aspen, Banff, La Jolla, Marlboro, Music Bridge, Orcas Island, Sarasota and Steamboat Springs. Before joining the faculty of The Shepherd School, Mr. Hoebig had been Principal Cellist of the Cleveland, Houston, and Cincinnati Symphony Orches- tras.
