Issue 7 Friday, February 5, 2016 Prima Vista Julia Watson—Staff Prima Vista, a night where Danville High School's Show Choirs perform their competition shows for the first time, oc- curred on Thursday, January 14th. While watching Prima Vista, many people were impressed by both group’s performances. Contemporaries, the unisex group, had a sassy princess theme, and the mixed group, Delegation, had a patriotic theme. Besides the Prima Vista the Show Choir also compete around the Mid-West trying to win big titles. The Show Choirs are very dedicated and work hard at practices to prepare them for competitions. First Time Out Madison Thompson—Editor On Saturday January 16th, Danville High School’s show choirs competed at Mt Zion, Illinois. Both groups did very well for their first time out. Contemporaries, the unisex group, placed 3rd in their division. Delegation, the mixed group, made finals with 5 other groups out of the 8 that competed for a spot. They took 4th place in finals. Mr. Neubauer was pleased with the groups performance at Mt Zion, but says that, “they could do much better if they would stay focused in rehearsal.” He continues to work the show choirs to improve their performances for upcoming competitions. 1 Big Ten and Beyond J.D. Richardson—Staff As Seniors are in the homestretch of their High School ca- reers, most are looking at the bigger picture—college. Most people are fa- miliar with the Big Ten conference in basketball or football, but how about tuition for all of the schools for students? The Big Ten Conference is made up of 14 schools, ironic I know. The schools are: Il- linois, Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Maryland, Rutgers, Nebraska, Ohio State, Purdue, and Wisconsin. According to collegeda- ta.com, the University of Maryland has the most expensive out of state tuition ringing in at just over $45,000 a year. University of Minnesota has the cheapest out of state tuition at $19,805. If you are looking to stay in state and in a Big Ten conference school, the ever so popular University of Illinois located in Champaign-Urbana, tallies in between $15,000 and $21,000 depending on what you are going into, according to collegeillinois.org. North- western University located in Evanston has an in state tuition of $47,251 according to startclass.com. Cheer Sectionals and Big 12 Madison Thompson—Editor Congratulations to our Varsity Cheerleaders at Big 12 this past weekend. They placed 5th out of 12 groups. We also wish them luck as they take on their sectional in Ma- homet this weekend. The cheerleaders have worked very long and hard to be at the point they are now. They have made major changes to their routine to add more appeal for the judges and crowd. To qualify for state, they must place Top 5. They made Top 4 last year and hope to do even better this upcoming weekend. They are very excited for their performance. State is ours, and don’t you forget it!!! She is involved in many activities such as, gaming club, The Band of Vikings, Hispanic Lead- ership club, NHS, Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering club, and International Club. In her free time, Veronica likes to flip flags, play guitar, play basketball and play Legend of Zelda. “The moment I realized I loved playing video games was when my mom put a controller in my hand at 1 years old and let me play Banjo Kazooie,” she responded when asked when she became interested in gaming. We wish the best of luck to Veronica as she finishes up her senior year! 3 Super Bowl 50 weekend— the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Ms. D—Advisor Broncos. A school divided… Looks like DHS has a split opinion on which team should win Super Bowl 50. Either way, plenty of people will be bragging come Monday morning. Dab-On-’Em Marcus Coe—Staff I believe the Carolina Panthers will win Super Bowl 50. All I have to say is Luke Kuechly. He is the best MLB in the league and ESPN Senior Writer released an article placing all the active players in the Super Bowl (which is 106 players total) and Kuechly was placed at number 1, which is understanda- ble since he has 118 total tackles this season and 4 interceptions. Out of the 4 intercep- tions, he returned 2 for a touchdown and became the first person in NFL history to have 2 consecutive pick-6’s in the playoffs. THAT MAN IS A BEAST! And you know he makes a play when you here the whole crowd chant “LUUUUUUKKKKKKEEEEE,” so be looking for it. Continued on page 5 4 Panthers— the tendency to be blowing really can’t do anything.
