Over the past seventeen years this format has grown leaps and bounds and is very keenly watched by all stakeholders involved with the game. The popularity and the growth of T20 has led to cricket boards taking this format with uttermost seriousness and every major cricket playing nation has its own international team and domestic league. Over the past seventeen years the strategies involved in succeeding in this format have also evolved and teams at the international, franchise and domestic level are trying to evolve their playbook to gain a comparative advantage. Seventeen years since T20 cricket started, preparation for matches globally have changed from casual chats in team meetings. For coaches and captains, dossiers of 25 pages are common; these dissect the opponent's strengths and weaknesses, suggest set-plays, which are the optimum ways that a bowler can set up a batsman, and explain the best parts of the ground to target and which end might suit each bowler best This research paper will delve into a potential winning strategy for a T20 side.

  • Junior Convenor's Report Poloc Cricket Club AGM, February 2013 I
Junior Convenor's Report Poloc Cricket Club AGM, February 2013 I'm please to bring another report on the club's juniors to the members. And in doing so I will start with the blatantly obvious: 2012 was another wet,….. very wet, season. So wet in fact that no fewer than 49 junior matches were scheduled only to be cancelled. Astonishingly, that's more than some clubs play in a full dry season! But perhaps we shouldn't have been surprised given – if I recall correctly – the last junior game of the previous season, an Under 11 home match against West of Scotland, had been abandoned with a West batter in tears in a muddy crease and unable to run on the slippery track, horizontal rain lashing across the ground! We should've seen this as an ominous sign! But of course there's more to the club's junior programme than just the summer season. Quite literally we are able to offer year-round cricket for our juniors. At present we are coaching juniors of all ages for two hours every Sunday – these sessions continue until April. We also introduced two-hour indoor Friday night sessions before Christmas for our older juniors and students, and from next week we have two-hour Monday evening sessions as well, again for our older juniors and students. I am convinced, therefore, that, as a club, we offer as comprehensive a junior coaching and practice programme as there is in the west of Scotland. The challenge is, of course, to make the quality of what we do as high as the quantity.

SACA NEWSLETTER December and January Edition SACA 6 Nations Rugby Lunch - Friday 24th of February Following last year’s very successful rugby lunch, SACA will be hosting a lunch to honour the contributions of David Boyd and Walter Hosford to the College's rugby programme. The event is also a fundraiser to help support the current rugby programme. We have a great panel and it promises to be a great day. Following the lunch Ireland U-20's will play France, so you can stick around and watch the game from the new Wesley Pavilion and hopefully Andrew's former pupil Jordan Larmour will be involved! Tickets from Sally Walker in the College (01-2882785 or [email protected]) or on Eventbrite -https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/st-andrews-college-dublin-alumni-rugby- lunch-2017-tickets-31149376624?aff=eac2 2 SACA Newsletter Dec and Jan Edition SACA Newsletter Dec and Jan Edition 3 SACA Olympic Night and SACA Uganda Table Quiz 2016 Two great events organised and supported by SACA took place over the last two months.
