They are both actresses, singer-songwriters, guitarists and pianists. The duo's debut album Into The Rush was released in 2005 and charted at #36 in the US. Holiday album Acoustic Hearts Of Winter followed in 2006 before their second studio album Insomniatic in 2007. In July 2009, the duo announced that they had officially changed their name to 78violet and would be introducing a more mature sound to their music. They released their debut studio album Into the Rush on August 17, 2005. The album debuted at number thirty six in the United States, selling over 24.000 copies in its first week and was later certified Gold by the RIAA. Into the Rush earned them the "Contemporary Inspirational Artists of the Year" nomination at the 2006 American Music Awards. Into the Rush has sold 839.000 copies in the United States and 1.000.000 worldwide. In 2006, the duo released their second studio and first Holiday album, Acoustic Hearts of Winter, which peaked at seventy-eight on the Billboard 200 and sold 110.000 copies. Their third studio album, Insomniatic, debuted at number fifteen in the on the Billboard 200, selling over 39.000 copies in its first week, making it their highest debut to date. The albums lead single, "Potential Breakup Song", is their most successful single to date, it was certified Platinum and managed to peak at number seventeen on Billboard becoming their first top twenty and international hit. Insomniatic has sold 700.000 copies in the United States. In 2013, the duo released a single under the name 78violet titled "Hothouse," which was their only single release under this name. Hothouse) available for the first time ever, which was recorded under their previous band name, 78violet. Exclusive release for Aly & AJ's fan club, Sanctuary, strictly for year one members, except for 29 copies that were released via Aly & AJ's webstore, that were "Triple Signed" (Autographed sleeve, inner sleeve & vinyl label) were available for purchase. Select copies included a signed note card from Aly & AJ, each with a handwritten note from Aly. Pressed on clear with purple splatter vinyl, packaged inside a tip-on sleeve with foil stamp text on front and back cover with a printed inner sleeve. 78violet 8 Hours. 78violet is comprised of Aly & AJ Michalka. This album will be the first album that they've released under their new moniker. Album title is rumored but not confirmed so it's subject to still change. Another title being considered is "53rd Floor." No official release date has been set as of yet, but it is due to drop in the late summer or fall.     ABSTRACT WHY WE TURN THE PAGE: A LITERARY THEORY OF DYNAMIC STRUCTURALISM Justin J. J. Ness, Ph.D. Department of English Northern Illinois University, 2019 David J. Gorman, Director This study claims that every narrative text intrinsically possesses a structure of fixed relationships among its interest components. The progress of literary structuralism gave more attention to the static nature of what a narrative is than it did to the dynamic nature of how it operates. This study seeks to build on the work of those few theorists who have addressed this general oversight and to contribute a more comprehensive framework through which literary critics may better chart the distinct tensions that a narrative text cultivates as it proactively produces interest to motivate a reader’s continued investment therein. This study asserts that the interest in narrative is premised on three affects— avidity, anxiety, and curiosity—and that tensions within the text are developed through five components of discourse: event, description, dialog, sequence, and presentation. Regardless, I remained seated on the floor, watching as hazes of fine dust floated aimlessly above the mound of surrounding cardboard, like flocks of vagrant particles. The hum of industrious air-conditioning unit became an unremitting monotone. Somewhere in the distance, a car door slammed. I snapped out of it. Nikolai. The red hulk of his Toyota Camry gleaned from its position in the driveway. I changed quickly, grabbed my backpack, and tucked the last bit of my babysitting money into my jeans’ back pocket. I waited until my mother’s voice sounded from the foyer, before wading through the waist-high boxes and rushing out of the room, leaving the mountainous containers behind. I completely lost track of the time. He stood at the entrance, one hand in his pocket, conversing casually with my mother. His blue eyes sparkled wildly with enthusiasm, and the hovering sun highlighted strands of his golden hair.     Sordili: Nothingness on the Move Sordili 1 Nothingness on the Move: A Discussion of Goethe's Faust Part 1 Rafael Sordili, Concordia University (Editor's note: Rafael Sordili's paper was selected for publication in the 2013 Agora because it was one of the best three presented at the ACTC Student Conference at Shimer College in Chicago in March 2013.) In the world inhabited by Faust, movement is a metaphysical fact: it is an expression of divine will over creation. There are, however, negative consequences to an existence governed by motion. The most prevalent of them is a feeling of nothingness and nihilism. This essay will discuss the relations between movement and such feelings in Goethe's Faust.1 It is my thesis that the assertion of his will to life, the acceptance of his own limitations, and the creation of new personal values are the tools that will ultimately enable Faust to escape nihilism. Metaphysics of Motion Faust lives in a world in which motion is the main force behind existence. During the Prologue in Heaven, three archangels give speeches in praise of the Creator, emphasizing how the world is in a constant state of movement. Raphael states that the movement of the Sun is a form of worship: "The sun proclaims its old devotion / [. .] / and still completes in thunderous motion / the circuits of its destined years" (246-248). For Gabriel, the rotation of the earth brings movement to all the elements upon its surface: "High cliffs stand deep in ocean weather, / wide foaming waves flood out and in, / and cliffs and seas rush on together / caught in the globe's unceasing spin" (251-258).
