THIS WEEK’S SCHEDULE The answer is shown beautifully in the Gospel. If you had been writing the story of this meeting May 5 May Crowning Procession After 10:00 AM and Rosary Mass between Peter and Jesus after the resurrection, what would you have had Jesus say to Peter— May 6 Blessed Are They Who Mourn 1:30 PM maybe something like this? Opportunities to Serve

St. Mark’s Respite Care Ministry needs you... Have you ever been stuck at home taking care of a loved one? Really in need of just a little free time of your own? Then you understand how important this ministry is to a caregiver.

Our ministry volunteers currently provide a combined 50 hours of visits each month to their clients. Visits are generally two hours, with two volunteers scheduled for each visit. This gives the caregiver an opportunity to run errands, have a doctor/dental visit, enjoy an activity, etc. knowing that their loved one is safe at home.

There is no lifting or toileting required, and no special training is needed. Requests for this ministry are increasing. Without additional volunteers, we cannot add new clients.

Volunteers can be married couples or friends who pair up for the visit, or be paired with another available volunteer. Your visits are just once or twice a month.

If you have an interest in the Respite Care Ministry, please contact Carol Southfield at 352-603-3689, or Karen O’Farrell at 317-407-7151.

From the Diocesan Office:

There is a scam circulating around the Diocese of Orlando and other dioceses across the nation. The scam is sent to unsuspecting parishioners via email or text and claims to be from a member of the clergy. The criminals often pretend to be a priest and ask for gift cards (iTunes, Amazon, or even cash) for someone in need.

PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THESE TYPES OF FRAUDULENT MESSAGES.

No Catholic clergyman would ever text or email a parishioner and ask for money.

If you receive one of these texts or emails, please report it to law enforcement and to the Parish Office.

You may also try to have the number blocked on your phone or mark the emails as junk mail to block any future attempts.

King returns — where is the compassionate human race? By: Eugene Santoro, Parishioner

We used to sacrifice animals as an offering to God to forgive our transgressions. The Incas in Mexico used to sacrifice human beings to their gods. The Inca nation has disappeared, only remnants remain where a nation once thrived.

Herod ordered all male babies, newborn to 2-years old, to be murdered to protect his throne.

We, too, have become baby killers. We sell aborted baby parts for medical research. Remember the commotion when people found out the medical field was using animals (rats, monkeys, chimps, dogs, cats and pigs) for experimental purposes? The law now prevents such cruelty to animals.

Where are the laws that prevent cruelty to the innocent human babies? chalks up a victory for his side if these new plans become law.

Is this God’s way of separating the wheat from the chaff? Is it time to make your choice?

Automatic Bank Payments for Offertory Contributions

The office quite often receives inquiries from parishioners regarding on-line donations. While we do not offer “e-giving or on-line donations,” you may consider another option. You can save yourself time and effort by setting up automatic payments with your financial institution, where it will mail a check for your offertory contributions directly to St. Mark the Evangelist.

The process is as follows: You need to be enrolled for on-line banking with your financial institution, which is free of charge. Organize authorization with your financial institution to make weekly or monthly payments to St. Mark the Evangelist. Provide your financial institution with your 4-digit Parishioner ID Number (the same number which is printed on your offertory envelopes). If you are unsure of your ID number, please contact the parish office. In the memo section of the bank check, please identify where the money is going, i.e. Weekly Offertory, St. Vincent de Paul, special collections, etc.

Your bank will send your contribution directly to St. Mark the Evangelist for posting in our ledger. In most cases there is no charge for this service. Please note that this can be done only from your savings or checking account, not your credit card. Most banks offer this service. You will need to contact your financial institution if you are interested in setting up this payment method. Please let our office know if you no longer require bi-monthly sets of offertory envelopes.
