Priory Cottage Rose Lane | Dodford | Worcestershire | B61 9DE PRIORY COTTAGE Priory Cottage Rose Lane | Dodford | Worcestershire | B61 9DE PRIORY COTTAGE “Priory Cottage is a hidden gem. When we first viewed the property, we particularly loved the courtyards which successfully combine inside and outside living and that made a lasting impression on us.” says the vendors. An important period country house set within its own estate which includes 5 acres of land. The unique mix of historic buildings have allowed the property to evolve into a very substantial family home. The flexible accommodation is a marriage of retained listed features and contemporary architectural interpretation. As a result, Priory Cottage would be ideal for multi-generational occupation, independent accommodation for teenagers or relatives, and could easily serve as three separate dwellings. This imposing residence is one of the only two storey properties constructed in the chartist style during the creation of the great Dodford settlement in the middle of the 19th century. Taking its name from the neighbouring Priory which itself is a registered ancient monument. The property occupies a truly magical setting within a private valley, characterised by specimen trees and ancient woodland. Accommodation summary Chartist Cottage Ground Floor • Welcoming entrance hall • Beautifully presented sitting room • Guest Sitting Room/Snug area • Well-proportioned Guest Kitchen • Office/study • Library • Utility Room • Conservatory Seller Insight We’ve lived here for 10 years and have made some changes, including remodelling the barn end of the house. This created a large dining and bar area which is perfect for when we are entertaining, particularly at Christmas when we light the fire and it becomes the hub of the house.” “Priory Cottage is set on an ancient walking route and there are plenty of rural walks to be enjoyed, either along the riverside or in the woodland. The Bluebell Forest is just along the road and Sunday’s are made for a long, morning walk with a break for lunch in the pub on the way back.” “We have dedicated a large area of the land as a natural haven for wildlife and have planted lots of wildflowers. The sheep keep the grass down in the summer and the lavender attracts bumblebees. When the trees and garden are in full bloom, they provide a natural cover and we can’t see anyone else, it’s very peaceful. The outside space includes a tennis court, huge chess set and gazebo but perhaps our favourite spot would be the hot tub set up on the hill. We like to relax here with a gin and tonic in the evening and enjoy the great view down into the valley.” “There is a strong sense of community, particularly focussed around the village hall which hosts regular activities. The village Facebook page is a hive of information, including updates on wandering horses or when a gate has been left open and the sheep are on the road!” “We converted the space above the garage into a yoga room. It has a beautiful view onto the back garden and we can watch the birds and hear the birdsong when we’re doing yoga, it’s very relaxing.” We are moving to be closer to our business and we will miss the sense of peace and tranquility provided by Priory Cottage, as well as the rural setting and the wildlife, including our resident owls and woodpeckers.”* * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property. We are creatures of light, so it is an especial pleasure to be able to go out and enjoy the sunshine, wake up in daylight and delight in the gradual sunsets and long period of twilight that follows late into the evening. It is important to remember Jesus at this time of year, not just because Pentecost (Whit) and Trinity fall in June, but because his ministry was all about bringing light into dark places.
