A favourite among international orchestras, Yeol Eum first drew attention when she appeared as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic under on its 2004 tour of Asia. She was re-engaged to perform with the Philharmonic and Maestro Maazel in 2008. Yeol Eum enjoys close and successful collaboration with Maestro with whom she appeared with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. With Maestro Dmitri Kitajenko she enjoyes equally fruitful collaboration having worked together with the Tonkünstler-Orchesters Niederösterreich and Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also performed with the Seattle Symphony, Israel Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic, NHK Symphony/Hirokami, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony, KBS Symphony Orchestra, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, St. Petersburg Academic Symphony/Dmitriev, NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, NDR Symphony Orchestra and Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern/Chichon.

A sensitive, emotional and powerful pianist, Yeol Eum gives frequent solo and chamber music performances around the world including recently recitals at the Mariinsky Concert Hall, De Doelen, Bad-Kissingen Summer Music Festival where

she became the winner of "Klavierolympiade 2008" chosen by Germany's best music critics, Besancon Festival, Rotterdam Gergiev Festival, Helsingborg Piano Festival as well as many chamber concerts and with violinists Clara-Jumi Kang, Svetlin Roussev and throughout Asia with Kumho-Asiana Soloists group.

Highlights of her current and upcoming seasons include appearances with Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, Zagreb Philharmonic, NCPA Orchestra, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky Theater Orchestra, Gürzenich-Orchester in Cologne, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Qatar Philharmonic, Bergen Philharmonic, at the Beethoven Easter Festival with Warsaw Philharmonic and Aspen Music Festival, Asian tour with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and an extensive recital tour throughout South Korea.

In February 2016, Yeol Eum has released a new album under Universal Music Korea titled Modern Times, featuring music of early 20th century composers: Berg, Prokofiev, Stravinsky and Ravel. Her discography includes also debut CD of the complete Chopin Etudes released in 2004 and Chopin Nocturnes for Piano and Strings released in 2008, both under the Universal Music label, prize-winning Cliburn Competition live performance recording released in 2009 by Harmonia Mundi and a multi-channel SACD O’ New World Music released in 2012 under an independent Korean label.

Yeol Eum Son currently studies with at the Hochschule für Musik Theater und Medien Hannover in Germany. She holds a degree from the Korean National University of Arts, under the guidance of Dae Jin Kim. Previously she has studied with Cheng-Zong Yin, one of China’s most prominent pianists. Yeol Eum is an honorary ambassador of the Seoul Arts Center and her home city of Wonju.
