Acting Workshop for Teens: Dawn Marinello Who: Entering 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th What: Acting to build confidence, have fun, making new friends, all while learning the basics of acting. This includes improv, theater warm-up games, monologues, technique and more! Where: CB West When: Mon. - Thurs: July 9-12 Time: 9 am-11:30am 2 July 16-19 July 23-26 July30-Aug 2 Fee: $130.00 week Drivers Education (Classroom Training Only) – Garrett Szagola & Irene Metcoff Who: Students in grades 9 thru 12; Pennsylvania Dept. of Transportation requires 30 consecutive classroom hours for the course (no exceptions). This is not a requirement to get one’s license. More information from instructor. What: Classroom course with PA Dept. of Trans. Information. In this class, you will get to use “hands on” learning on how to plan a lesson, design engaging activities, as well as learning to utilize brain-based learning techniques. Topics include cooperative learning, multiple intelligences, growth mindset, metacognition, reading and writing strategies and more! Using the topics that most interest you or the grade level you’re thinking you may want to teach, we will write lessons and teach our friends. You will not only learn how to make material more accessible to young people, but in the process, learn how you learn best. Finally, you can add this experience to your college portfolio! High/Middle School Singing – James Glaser and Ian Sanchez Who: Grades 7th-10th What: Developing singers will exercise their voices with warm-ups, various rehearsals, performances by special guests, music and theater games all culminating in a public concert! Where: CB West When: July 9th- 13th (Friday is on the road) Time: 9am – 3:30pm Fee: $165.00 Mock Trial – Tara Brouda Who: 7th – 12th What: Learn about the legal profession, mock trial, and complete a full criminal trial drawn from the PA Bar Association’s library of criminal trials. What: Join us for this interactive program designed to help young people become more qualified and responsible as babysitters. Child care and emergency basics are covered. Students should bring a snack, lunch and drink. Where: CB WEST When: Monday, July 9th (A one day information- packed camp) Time: 9am-3pm Fee: $95.00 Band: Larry Werner Who: Entering grades 5-9 What: Summer Band Camp & Beginner Lessons Where: CB West When: July 16- July 26 (two-week camp) Monday through Thursday Time: 8am-1pm “Morning” schedule has individual lessons built around ensemble class (see below). The Central Bucks Summer Band Camp and Beginner Lessons are designed to provide opportunities for student to learn and perform on a band instrument. 5 Beginning band students will receive four 45-minute lessons on their instrument each week (totaling eight lessons). Lessons will be taught in either an individual or small group setting, depending on enrollment. A beginner is a student who has never taken lessons on their instrument. Experienced band student will receive four 90-minute ensemble rehearsals and two 30 minute private/semi-private lessons each week (totaling 4 private lessons and 8 band classes). Lessons will be scheduled on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Ensemble rehearsals will take place each day from 9:30-11:00, with the lesson schedule built before and after the ensemble class. Time: Morning is 8 am- 1pm Fee: $200.00 Be the Director: Michael Lechniak Who: Going into 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th grade What: Video editing software, digital camcorders, & digital cameras to develop their own short films. An “Escape the Room” Experience: Laura Fornwald & Ellen Stemler 6 Who: Entering grades 5 through 8 What: Campers will use critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication to help them solve daily Escape Room challenges. Throughout the week, campers will create their own themed Escape Room challenge. The camp will culminate with groups challenging other campers. Where: CB West When: July 9th- 12th Time: 9am-12pm Fee: $125.00 iBuen viaje! – Beginner’s Conversational Spanish: Karyn Jakubik Who: 5th – 7th graders What: Learn about the Spanish-speaking world as you learn conversational Spanish! You will learn colors, numbers, greetings, places to visit and activities to do. You will also learn to express your likes and dislikes, to buy goods, to order food and more, all while you are planning the vacation of your dreams. The course is useful if you are hoping to travel somewhere, or getting you prepared for beginning your Spanish instruction in grade eight. You’ll have lots of fun too! (Ex: Gumby and Wallace and Gromit). Students will have the opportunity to create their own stop animation movie. Where: CB West When: Four sessions to choose from below. Using your smartphone or internet images, you will take these photos to the next level in Photoshop! Have fun, while learning everything you need to know in digital editing by adding layers of digital artistry and special effect to your photos. All art work will be taken home at the end of the course. Designed for students going into 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade Where: CB West When: June 25-28 Time: Two Sessions: 8-11AM or 12-3PM Fee: $120.00 Engineering: Travis Jovais & John Benedix Who: Grades 4-7 What: Explore the world of engineering and technology. Build and test prop cars, foam gliders, soda bottle rockets, ping-pong ball launchers, and make T-shirts all while being exposed to the use of 8 computers, computer numerical controlled (CNC) devices, and 3D printers! Bring lunch!! Learn yoga sequences, meditation techniques, and mindfulness practices that will invite calm and joy into your life.
