Voting is a fundamental right of any citizen that enables to choose the leaders of tomorrow. It not only enables the citizens to vote for political parties but it also helps to realize the importance of citizenship. Many people do not vote, thinking one vote will not make a change, but as a matter of fact, it does. In order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, the government of India has decided to celebrate January 25 every year as “National Voters’ Day.” The program was embarked on 25th January in the presence of Officer In charge Of MBA Prof. M.L.S. DEVA KUMAR, Faculty In charge of NSS Dr. D VARALAKSHMI and Faculty accompanied by the Vice Chancellor Dr. S. SRINIVAS KUMAR. A message from our speakers… It all started with a muster in the morning from the department of management to administrative building with a rallying cry Vote for hope, vote for change Be bright, vote for the right Vote the right, save the nation Let’s vow for our Nation, “We the citizens of India having abiding faith in democracy, hereby pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections, and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any inducement.” - Dr. S. SRINIVAS KUMAR Voting is a basic process that keeps a nation’s governing body working. It enables the citizen to choose their own government. It also allows people to choose their representatives in the government. The purpose of every government is to develop and implement various policies for the benefit of its citizen’s. It also enables the person with the right to question the government about issues and clarifications. - Dr. S. KRISHNAIAH 04 JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY ANANTAPUR DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT Right to vote energizes social awareness since it empowers political cooperation. Observing that new voters, who have attained the age of 18years were showing less interest in getting enrolled in the electoral rolls, GOI has decided to celebrate this day in order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process. All after it is a way to express the opinion of a citizen in a democratic nation. Every adult is given the right to vote, irrespective of sex, class, occupation and so forth. This represents uniformity and congruity. Percentage of voting in urban areas is very less when compared to rural areas. In cities like Hyderabad, the voting percentage is less than 43% whereas in rural it is around 75%. It will be good if urban people take a step forward and utilize their right. Every party that is competing in any elections announces and establishes various benefits and social reforms for their people. Some of these parties might be deceiving with their initial reforms, but can have the intention of corruption. Democracy is being allowed to vote for the candidate you dislike least. So be bright, vote for what is right. - Prof. M.L.S. DEVA KUMAR Let us never forget that government is by ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a president, ministers and government officials, but the voters of this country. Individuals may figure their vote does not make a difference, but rather votes can shape remote monetary and social arrangements. - Prof. S. VASUNDRA KEY TAKEAWAYS, ✓ In most places, elections are held on Sundays. Voters in the U.S. may head to the polls on Tuesdays, but the rest of the world prefers to save its votes for Sundays. Interestingly, countries in which English is the primary language tend to be the exception to this rule; in Canada, citizens vote on Mondays, while Brits vote on Thursdays, and Australians and New Zealanders on Saturdays. ✓ The millennial generation accounts for one-third of the electorate. ✓ In most communities, the turnout for voting is less than 50%. ✓ In most state and national elections, you need to be registered to vote anywhere from 10-27 days before the actual elections. That is why it’s important to regularly check if you are eligible to vote in your district. 05 JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY ANANTAPUR DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT GLANCE, 06 JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY ANANTAPUR DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT Republic day An auspicious event republic day was organized in jntua!
