Steers to £1315 Heifers to £1140 Supply short and demand stronger than ever. A packed ring of buyers ensured all classes of stock were keenly sought after, with well fleshed animals in particular selling at premium price levels. A pair of well grown 25 month Simmental steers the property of EH Bragg & Son of Clyst St George realised the top price on the day of £1315. Other quality sorts close, with a matching pair of 27 month Charolais’ bullocks from Bill Hobbs of Moretonhampstead to £1295 apiece, while his 29 month South Devon made £1255 and Limousin heifers to £1140. A super run of 33 well-bred cattle from Rodney & Steven Squire of Ashreigney saw their best 24 month Charolais steers sell readily to £1165 with others to £1120, 21 month Limousin steers to £1095 and similar aged Blues to the same price, also 14 month Charolais steers to £860. Blue heifers from the same consignors sold in groups and realised £955 (x3), £920 (x4) and £865 (x3). A further entry of strong cattle from John Searle of Hollacombe created keen interest with his best 21 month Blue steers to £1215 (x4), Devons to £1095, well fed Blue heifers off the same holding saw groups of 2, 3 & 2 make £1080, £1055 & £1040 respectively and Aberdeen Angus’ to £1080.
