Giving Culture a Space to Breathe In

The Cultural Quarter in Tallaght has been developed to become a home to renowned facilities, such as RUA RED and the Civic Theatre, as well as to the County Library and South Dublin County Council’s headquarters.

RUA RED was opened on 5 February 2009, by Mayor Marie Corr, after an investment of almost €10 million in cultural facilities by South Dublin County Council. RUA RED is a dynamic home for the creation and enjoyment of the arts.

The Civic Theatre, opened in March 1999, is a project of SDCC whose mission is to mount an artistic and challenging programme of contemporary and classical Irish and international work in Theatre, Dance, Opera and Music for the Rua Red Arts Centre people of South Dublin County.

The Dublin Region is facing significant Working Together to Respond risks and challenges related to climate change in the years and decades ahead. to Climate Change In response to this, each of the four Dublin Local Authorities has worked with Codema - Dublin’s Energy Agency and the Dublin Metropolitan CARO office on developing individual Climate Change Action Plans that outline how each local authority will act to prevent and adapt to the effects of climate change.

The Plans identify the main climate risks facing Dublin and outline both the Councils’ and the region’s current levels of greenhouse gas emissions.

In response, your Council has already begun switching to Electric Vehicles and incorporating Climate Action throughout every area of the work we do. As a Council, we want to lead by example on this pressing issue.

Our full Action Plan outlines all the actions that are ongoing or planned within our council grouped under five key areas Energy and Buildings, Visit www.sdcc.ie to stay Transport, Flood Resilience, Nature- Based Solutions and Resource updated on Council news Management.
