Name Scores 1 Sebastian Muñoz 64 (-7) Roger Sloan 3 Sepp Straka 65 (-6) Chris Baker Muñoz, Sloan share 18-hole lead at Web.com Tour’s Rex Hospital Open RALEIGH, N.C. – It was a gloomy Thursday in Raleigh, North Carolina, for the 25th playing of the Rex Hospital Open contested at TPC Wakefield Plantation, but Colombian Sebastian Muñoz and Canadian Roger Sloan shone through the clouds, each posting rounds of 7-under 64 to stake a claim of the first-round lead. The lead marks Muñoz’s fourth first-round lead/co-lead of the 2018 Web.com Tour Season, and the first of Sloan’s career. Austria native Sepp Straka and Chris Baker sit one back of the duo. The round wasn’t all smooth sailing for Muñoz, who opened play with a bogey on the par-4 first. The 25-year-old refused to be shaken, however, quickly picking up steam with a birdie on No. 3. The change in momentum was crucial for the University of North Texas alum, who has missed the cut in both of his prior appearances in Raleigh. “It was huge,” he said of the early birdie. “It’s knowing that I’m playing good and just kind of getting on track and seeing the putts go in. You feed off of it and it showed in the round later.” Muñoz went on to pick up seven more birdies on the day, posting a clean scorecard after the opening blemish. -

The second round resumed Saturday at 7 a.m. Inclement weather suspended Thursday’s opening round at 1:21 p.m., with only 30 players officially posting a score. Roughly half the field played 36 holes Friday, while the majority of Thursday’s morning wave began their second rounds late Friday evening. The second round was completed, with the 36-hole cut made at 4-under par, shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday. “That was a lot of holes of golf today,” Novak said. “A 4:45 alarm this morning. I’m looking to eat some dinner and sleep a bit.” For Jaeger, Sunday is simple. -
Ryan Brehm Takes Early Lead at Web.Com Tour's Knoxville Open
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Alex Wood May 10, 2018 (850) 691-6756 First-Round Leaderboard Pos. Name Scores 1 Ryan Brehm 65 (-6) 2 Scott Langley 67 (-4) Brett Drewitt 4 14 tied at 68 (-3) Ryan Brehm takes early lead at Web.com Tour’s Knoxville Open KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – It’s been two years since Michigan native Ryan Brehm last held an 18-hole lead on the Web.com Tour. The 32-year-old has seen just about everything in that four-year span, from winning on the Web.com Tour to competing on the PGA TOUR to ultimately struggling to earn starts on either level. Signs began to point to a change for Brehm on Monday, however, when the Michigan State alum shot an 8-under 64 at the Knoxville Open Monday qualifier to enter a playoff for a spot in this week’s field. Brehm was able to advance through the playoff, earning his seventh Web.com Tour start of the year. He rode the momentum into Thursday, carding a 6-under 65 at Fox Den Country Club to take a two-stroke lead over Panama Championship winner Scott Langley Brehm began the day in Knoxville with four-straight pars before picking up his first birdie of the day on the par-5 fifth. He would pick up five more birdies before walking off the green on No. 16 to the sound of an airhorn suspending play due to inclement weather in the area. “I was a little hungry, so that [delay] was nice,” Brehm joked after his round. -
