Front of House Audio $31,200 salaried non-exempt

The Front of House is responsible for ensuring the success of live events by performing the technical aspects related to live event audio. The Engineer is responsible for managing all equipment and sound of the show. He or she oversees the set-up and maintenance of all the sound equipment to ensure sound is of the highest quality. Assist in all aspects of audio production as well as assisting in other various aspects of event production when needed. The Engineer will work with the rest of the Technical team to produce the best possible show for our guests and artists. The position reports directly to the Technical Director. Will report to Assistant Technical Director when Technical Director is unavailable. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

 Operate audio control board.  Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all RF and audio equipment as well as computers and backups required for these systems.  Clean, repair, test, and set up wireless and related systems.  Check, repair, test and set up wireless and related systems.  Mix show sound.  Learn and perform multiple cue tracks.  Test all “SMPTE” code interaction with and lighting.  Complete daily pre-show line checks and testing of all RF units.  Performa daily set up, tear down, boot up and boot down of all sound related equipment.  Maintain daily, weekly and monthly maintenance as required.  Maintain DB levels required for the show space.  Attend all sound checks scheduled, during which, the sound technician will talk to the performers to determine exactly what type of sound they desire.  Take direction from outside Tech Director/ Tour Manager without issue.  Work with other venue sound personnel as needed, such as lobby sound needs.  Maintain a clean and orderly working environment at all times.  Write reports as necessary on any updates and issues.  Works alongside all crew to load in, set up, and load out events.  Work alongside all stage crew in maintenance work required during the off months.  Assist Technical Director/Assistant Technical Director in emergency procedures.  Must be able to mix monitors if necessary.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

 High school diploma or GED; at least 3- 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified for a live venue.  BA/ BS may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.  Bachelor’s degree in theatre with an emphasis in audio production preferred.  Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills.  Ability to handle multiple projects.  A positive attitude and the ability to effectively collaborate with others. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists — the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
