Former Western Sydney Wanderers youth prospect Blacktown should have the upper hand in this game Campbell has been an inspired acquisition from City but both sides have their weaknesses so it could go coach Mark Crittenden and looks like the club’s next either way. big star if recent performances are anything to go by. Crittenden will surely lean on the young defender once again this week as they face off against the skilful and pacy attack on Manly United. One issue for City has been the lack of goals and Crittenden hopes both Joey Gibbs and Leroy Jennings can find their way to goal come Sunday. Manly United snatched a narrow 1-0 at home last week and come into this game in solid form with three wins from their past five matches. However, consistency has been Manly’s biggest weakness this season with the Paul Dee coached side struggling to deliver back to back performances. 1ST GRADE - NPL NSW MEN’S POS TEAM P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Wollongong Wolves FC 15 10 3 2 38 13 25 33 2 APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC 15 8 4 3 26 21 5 28 3 Blacktown City FC 15 7 3 5 19 17 2 24 4 Sydney United 58 FC 15 7 3 5 23 26 -3 24 5 Manly United FC 15 6 5 4 21 19 2 23 6 Rockdale City Suns FC 15 7 2 6 19 24 -5 23 7 Sydney Olympic FC 15 5 5 5 26 24 2 20 8 Marconi Stallions FC 15 6 1 8 32 26 6 19 9 Sutherland Sharks FC 15 4 6 5 19 19 0 18 10 Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC 15 4 5 6 25 32 -7 17 11 Sydney FC 15 4 2 9 21 34 -13 14 12 Hakoah Sydney City East FC 15 2 1 12 9 23 -14 7 NPLNSW.COM.AU 5 1ST GRADE REVIEWS Sutherland Sharks 2- Blacktown City 1 at Seymour Shaw Park Sutherland Sharks has knocked Blacktown City’s premiership hopes with a shock 2-1 win at Seymour Shaw on Saturday. It was only the Sharks fourth win of the season but extends their current unbeaten run to eight games. Raul Romero scored from the penalty spot to give Sutherland the perfect start before Jordan Morfitis doubled their advantage to 2-0 with only 11 minutes left on the clock. Lachlan Campbell netted late for Blacktown City to set up a nervous close to the match but it wasn’t enough for the visitors as the Sharks hung on for a confidence boosting win. Manly United 1 – Marconi Stallions 0 at Cromer Park A Charles Mendy strike in first-half stoppage time proved decisive as Manly United edged out Marconi Stallions 1-0 at Cromer Park on Sunday afternoon. In a fiery affair, the visitors will be left scratching their heads as to how they emerged empty-handed following the raft of opportunities they forged throughout the ninety. Despite James Andrew and last week’s hat-trick hero Mitch Mallia giving Manly some early defensive headaches, the solitary goal of the match arrived courtesy of a former Stallion Charles Mendy deep into first-half added time. A tense second stanza ultimately saw the scoresheet remain as it were, allowing for a courageous Manly performance to earn them a valuable three points in the race for the top 5. 6 #NPLNSW TEAM OF THE WEEK 01: LARGE USE: OVER 150MM WIDE This logo has a smaller ‘®’ symbol FOOTBALL NSW WOULD LIKE TO THANK THEIR SPONSORS FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT 02: SMALL USE: 55MM - 150MM WIDE This logo has a larger ‘®’ symbol NPLNSW.COM.AU 7 SILVER SPONSORS SILVER SPONSORS SILVER SPONSORS NPLNSW.COM.AU 9 U20’S TEAM LISTS 26 Alen Aganovic 20 Sam Benton (GK) 27 Alec Purves 25 Luca Cavalieri 29 Daniel Colosimo 26 Alex Demarco 31 Jack Hutchings 27 Vaughan Hudy 32 Carlos De Olivera 28 Will Martin 33 Anthony Gallo 29 Jack Berte 34 Suley Bangura 30 Lucas Rainbird 35 Rhett Desilva 31 Max Rogers 32 Mackenzie Syron (GK) 33 Tallon Zahra 35 Ben Varvaressos 36 Lachlan McGrath Coach: Andy Montgomery Assistant Coach: Daniel Lownds Coach: Adam Griffiths Manager: Dean Montgomery Assistant coach: Marty Judge Manager: Tony Cavalieri Head Physio: Steve Felsher U20’S - NPL NSW MEN’S POS TEAM P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Blacktown City FC 15 10 4 1 35 12 23 34 2 Sydney FC 15 6 6 3 24 16 8 24 3 APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC 14 7 3 4 18 10 8 24 4 Rockdale City Suns FC 15 7 3 5 33 26 7 24 5 Sutherland Sharks FC 15 6 4 5 18 17 1 22 6 Manly United FC 15 6 3 6 25 27 -2 21 7 Sydney Olympic FC 14 6 3 5 18 20 -2 21 8 Wollongong Wolves FC 15 6 0 9 18 26 -8 18 9 Marconi Stallions FC 15 4 5 6 21 28 -7 17 10 Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC 15 4 4 7 28 33 -5 16 11 Hakoah Sydney City East FC 14 3 4 7 22 33 -11 13 12 Sydney United 58 FC 14 2 3 9 16 28 -12 9 10 #NPLNSW U20’S MATCH PREVIEW Blacktown City have won just once in their last four Manly United arrive at Lily Homes Stadium on the matches, a run which hardly seems disastrous given back of a 3-1 win over Marconi Stallions in Round they are currently ten points out in front at the top of 15, with goals courtesy of Maximilian Rogers, Tallon the table.
